  • Are all 500GB SATA Hard drives the same size physically?

    I currently have an Asus G72GX (http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Gaming_Powerhouse/G7...

I'm looking to upgrade to an Acer Aspire (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V3-571G-6407-15-...

They both have a 500GB SATA hard drive. If I were to buy the Acer, would it be as easy as taking out the hard drive from the Acer and putting the one from the Asus in it? Would they typically be the same size physically?

Worst comes to worst, I buy a connection for my old hard drive to connect to the new computer through USB and transfer the files

  • Did I hurt my motherboard?

I have an Asus G72GX laptop. I've had it for a few years. The gpu has been overheating, so I went out and bought some thermal paste. After looking online, I found out I had to completely take the computer apart to get to the gpu. I carefully went through, separated it all, applied the paste, and put it back together. now when I turn it on, it powers on, the fan starts running at full speed, and i hear it access the cd drive for a moment. the screen stays blank and I don't hear any sounds from the CPU. Typically I hear noises from the hard drive. Did I possibly damage the motherboard? All the wires are back in place and the hard dive is connected, I made sure.

  • Why is my computer having terrible lag spikes and being choppy?

I'll be sitting down, browsing the internet, listening to music, or just working on a paper, and my computer gets choppy. Every few seconds it will become unresponsive for a second, and this can last 20 seconds to a few minutes. If I have music playing, the music will skid. It almost sounds like someone is burping that part of the song or it was turned into dubstep. I'll provide my computer specs below. I have anti-virus software, and it is up to date. I haven't used any computer cleaner on my laptop in awhile, so that could have some effect. The drivers should be up to date as well. I've had this computer since the summer of 2010.

  • Why have a Cigar Box?

So I bought a cigar box from a yard sale a few weeks back because I recently began smoking cigars. When I went out and bought some cigars, the guy at the store put them in a ziplock bag and said they should last a week in there. After doing research online, I read you should preserve cigars in a humidor so they last. Is there any real purpose for the cigar box then? I mean, if I kept them in the box for a week instead of the ziplock bag, they'd most likely dry out, right? (the temp in my closet is around 70 but humidity is nowhere close to what it needs).

I am just trying to figure out if the box was even worth getting. It smells like a cedar wooden box, large enough to fit maybe 8 cigars. It's held closed by a small latch, and it's 95% sealed around the whole thing (there is a miniscule gap at one corner). It also has on the inside strips of wood that go around all the sides. The strips are a little taller than the actual outside of the box, probably to keep it more sealed.

  • What do I do if I want a new phone, but don't have a SIM card in my old one?

So I right now have the Samsung Omnia (http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/omnia/#/ga... The original omnia, not lite or pro or 2 or 7. I plan on buying the iPhone 4 from Verizon. So here's my issue:

I want to keep my number, my contacts, and texts, but I seem to be missing the SIM card from my Omnia. I looked where it should be and it's gone, which means it must have fallen out when I dropped it (I've dropped it many times and have had it for 3 years so it's long gone by now). Will not having the SIM card prove problematic to transferring over my texts, contacts, and number? I kinda just wanted to order the phone online and transfer the info myself, but without the SIM card it seems past my knowledge. Would I have to go to the store?

  • How can I turn the opening sound off on my Asus G72GX?

I just got an Asus G72GX Notebook, and it runs great, I love it. There is one problem though. When I first turn it on, it pops up the icon "Gaming Republic" and then makes an explosion sound. I plan on using this laptop for college and I know I'll have to use it in some classes. I don't want to turn it on and then everyone in the room hear a little cheesy explosion sound. I've tried lowering the volume before and during the explosion but it doesn't let me. I've also left my laptop on mute before restarting it, but it doesn't mute that opening. I've even had it plugged into a set of speakers, but it ignores the speakers at this point and plays through the laptop speakers. Please, any suggestions? I figure I have to change something in bootworks.

  • I downloaded a movie from Limewire, and I can hear it, but why can't I see it?

I downloaded a movie in AVI format from Limewire. I scanned it for virus after the download and it's clean. It automatically opens with Windows Media Player, and when it does, I can hear the movie but not see it. The screen is just blank. I jumped around to different parts of the movie and I could hear the parts, but nothing appeared on the screen. I've tried opening it with iTunes but nothing happens (I figure because of the format). Can someone help me out? Also, how can I get it to work on my iTunes so I can get it on my iPod? Thanks!

  • Why do they censor Beatrix Kiddo's name in Kill Bill?

I've seen both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, and I find them fantastic; however, I've never understood why they censored Uma Thurman's character's name (until it was revealed half way through the 2nd movie). My hunch is to add suspense to knowing her name, but why even say it then? Does someone know Tarantino's crafty reason?

  • Is there a health risk with machines when working out?

I work out during the week after classes, and at the gym I go to they have machines and dumbbells. A friend of mine tells me that using the machines actually can cause some kind of medical issue with your growth plates (or something like that) because they allow you to lift more than you normally could, and then the muscle, although the muscle heals, doesn't heal as properly as it should have. Thus, somehow causing your growth to be tampered. Now, I couldn't find anything on google about this, so I hope someone here can answer this.

Simply, can you cause some kind of harm similar to what I described, besides the obvious "If you push to hard, you can hurt yourself"?

  • Enslaving and Killing, Overlord 2?

Hey guys. I have Overlord 2 for the Xbox 360 and I have a question. I accidentally killed 3 people so far while enslaving the people of Nordberg. I've got like 83 enslaved and 3 killed. When I finish enslaving the last 14, will the mission finish? Like will it give me credit for choosing to enslave the town, or will it never give me credit because I'm "missing" 3?

  • New Contacts, curious if allergic?

Hey everyone, I just got contacts (hurray!). I've had them for a couple of days now and I'm concerned I might have some kind of allergy to them. They are Acuvue Oasis contact lenses. After where them for awhile, my eyes started feeling very itchy, and my sister told me my eyes looked dry. I took them out, and the next day I put them on. Still itchy. A day ago I put them on and went to work. They became so irritating and burning, that I had to leave work to go home and take them out. It was unbearable. Today, I haven't had much issue, but I'm worried I might have some allergy to the material.

Are these suppose to be simple side effects when you first start wearing contacts, or is something wrong with this brand?

  • Gaining Control of a Creature in Magic: The Gathering?

I know a lot about Magic. I've been playing for years. It hasn't come up until now though that I did not know how this would work out.

    1. If I gain control of a creature that has Equipments attached to it, do the attachments stay on the creature when I gain control?

    2. If the answer is yes to #1, then what happens if the creature with the Equipments attached to it dies? I know he goes to his owner's graveyard, but do I still keep control of the Equipments? I would think not because I gained control of the creature, and I only had the equipments because they were still on him. Now that I don't control "the source", I give them back to him.

  • In Magic: The Gathering, trample?

I know a lot about the game, and I know what trample does, but lately I've been reading up on some abilities and something has confused me about what I know trample to do.

It says that you have to assign at least enough damage to kill a creature blocking before you can choose to do damage to your opponent. Would my opponent's creature be able to live if he buffed it up after I assigned the combat damage, assuming that I did the least amount of damage I had to?

I've always known trample as, if there is excess damage, you take that much, and if you buff him up after you've chosen to block, you'll just take less excess damage

  • How does reduction work with X, Magic the Gathering?

If a creature has X in its mana cost, and you have a card in play that directly reduces its mana cost by Y, will whatever X does for the card be increased by Y?

ok, so that might be confusing for some people, so here is a simple example of what I mean.

Lets say I have a creature who reduces the cost of Blue spells that I play by 2 generic mana. Then I play a card that costs XBBB and it returns X target creatures to my opponent's hand. If I payed 3 for X, would it then return 5 creatures to my opponent's hand?

  • Prince of Thralls in Magic the Gathering?

I know a lot about magic, but this got me thinking. If I have Prince of Thralls out, and I countered a spell that would have been a permanent if it came in to play, does Thralls ability still trigger? It technically is a permanent, but the "controls" part has me wondering...

  • How Would I Solve this math Problem?

Just to put this out there, I'm a High School student, i've taken up to PreCalc level math, and I'm taking Calc next year. My question is, how would I set up a formula to answer something like this:

Lets say I had a normal deck of cards (52 without jokers), and I wanted to solve the probability of drawing a 3 on the top. Now clearly that's a fraction of 4/52 (or 1/13). But what is the probability that I would draw a 3 within the first 7 draws (and once a card has been drawn, the total number of the deck is reduced by 1)?

Do I just add together each individual fraction and take the average, or what? If there is a simple formula for it, let me know.

  • Will this work in Magic: the Gathering?

I play Threaten on an opponent's creature. He then plays Counterspell on it. If I then play Radiate on my Threaten, it will make the copies of Threaten because it resolves before I lose the original, right?

Just want to see how powerful this combo is.

  • Replicate in Magic: The Gathering?

I was looking around and I found Djinn Illuminatus ( http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&... ). My concern is that if I make a copy of Counterspell or Cancel, do they just disappear because I have no targets for them?

    Here is an example:

So someone plays a creature. The stack is open and then I play Counterspell. If I make a copy of my Counterspell, what happens to it? He hasn't played another card yet so the copies goes away?

  • If a creature with trample is blocked by more than one creature in Magic: The Gathering...?

does any trample damage go through?

    Here is an example:

Brontotherium (a 5/3 with trample) + Might of Oaks (making him a 12/10) is blocked by 2 creatures, lets say a 4/4 and a 3/2.

Now I know I can divide the damage however I want, but if I:

    a) do all 12 to one of them, does the trample damage go through?

    or

    b) do 5 to the 3/2 and 7 to the 4/4, does the excess from both go through (essentially 3+3 = 6 damage to the player)?

Please answer both (a) and (b)

  • Does Enchant Creature also qualify as an Enchantment in Magic: The Gathering?

    This is what I mean:

We all know the card type "Enchant Creature". Are these cards also qualified as an "Enchantment"?

What brings me to the question is I was about to play Hull Breach ( http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&... ) on Cage of Hands ( http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&... ) when I realized I wasn't exactly sure if it targeting Cage of Hands was legal. Can someone let me know?
