What do I do if I want a new phone, but don't have a SIM card in my old one?

So I right now have the Samsung Omnia (http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/omnia/#/ga... The original omnia, not lite or pro or 2 or 7. I plan on buying the iPhone 4 from Verizon. So here's my issue:

I want to keep my number, my contacts, and texts, but I seem to be missing the SIM card from my Omnia. I looked where it should be and it's gone, which means it must have fallen out when I dropped it (I've dropped it many times and have had it for 3 years so it's long gone by now). Will not having the SIM card prove problematic to transferring over my texts, contacts, and number? I kinda just wanted to order the phone online and transfer the info myself, but without the SIM card it seems past my knowledge. Would I have to go to the store?

If i were you i would just buy a sim online and put it in and transfer everything from your phone to your sim. like all contact info and everything.
