Why is my computer having terrible lag spikes and being choppy?

I'll be sitting down, browsing the internet, listening to music, or just working on a paper, and my computer gets choppy. Every few seconds it will become unresponsive for a second, and this can last 20 seconds to a few minutes. If I have music playing, the music will skid. It almost sounds like someone is burping that part of the song or it was turned into dubstep. I'll provide my computer specs below. I have anti-virus software, and it is up to date. I haven't used any computer cleaner on my laptop in awhile, so that could have some effect. The drivers should be up to date as well. I've had this computer since the summer of 2010.

Check to see how often your AV software runs a scan. Virus scans can be pretty intense and will likely lag your computer. You could download a program such as speed fan to monitor the temperature of your CPU and RAM. If any of these are abnormally high, you may want to consider at least getting a compressed air canister and cleaning your computer out a bit. Reinstalling windows MIGHT work, but it's quite a big thing to do considering there's a chance it wont solve the problem.

I even have the comparable venture, i evaluate myself a hardcore gamer and that i exploit to play all of the time till what i call *the lag waves of dying* began to return into play. all of my video games the place doing this. happy wheels, minecraft, LOL, WOW, Roblox, Autocraft, or perhaps Mc Pixel that's in basic terms a pixel sport. the answer i stumbled on replaced into to get carry of a application referred to as Dxtrory, this might properly be a exhibit recorder even even with the undeniable fact that it additionally has the skill to cut back fps. I cut back each sport as much as fifteen-20 FPS and that i are not getting the "Lag waves of dying" yet at present this is been returning. 15-20 fps seems low yet you may barley tell the version after a on a similar time as of twiddling with it.
