  • How to tell statler brothers' tenors apart?

Listening to old Statler Brothers records from different albums, years, and performances, and wondered how to tell whether it was Lew Dewitt or Jimmy Fortune who was the tenor. Any help? Much appreciated.

  • Out of the major truck rental companies (Penske, Ryder, Enterprise, and the like) how do their largest trucks differ?

I have a business contract through Penske, and their 26 foot trucks have heavily derated engines. Even up a slight hill in Ohio, i can go from 70 (max governed speed) to 50 at the top. I called Penske, and they said the engines are derated for maintenance reasons. Now on a transcontinental drive, the mountains would take a toll on this truck, going up very slowly, and (with the exception of Penske's Hinos with exhaust brake) down the hills at considerable speed and brake wear. The question, does one company's trucks have more power than a compeditor? I know Ryder has dual fuel tanks, which are a plus, but i'm not in the mood for pure torture on even the smallest foothills, let alone the joys of driving an under-powered, under-braked truck down an eight mile 8 percent grade. Sure it can be done at a slow enough speed, but looking for the most reliable, highest spec-d truck available.

For the record, i have a Class A CDL, and in an extremely tight pinch can rent a tractor trailer.

  • Type of vehicle required for DOT driving exam.?

I am already a commercial driver, however a friend is getting her commercial as well, training on a rental truck. When she goes to take her exam, must she be in a passenger bus to use for the test, or any class B vehicle, as when i took the test, i was on a bus, only due to it being the only thing available. As well, must the specific vehicle have a GWVR over 26001 or be of a type similar, as many rental trucks have their weight limited to 26000 even, to not require a class B, even having air brakes.

  • Pickup truck with manual transmission?

I am looking to buy a pickup truck, with a Diesel engine as a MUST HAVE, not the problem, the problem i come across is that not a single truck comes with a manual transmission (sans the Toyota dohicky and some other non-american contraption). Am i just looking in the wrong places? (i also am waist deep in manuals, brochures and flyers)

  • Trailways, Coach USA and Greyhound Lines tickets?

i am travelling from Huntington, West Virginia to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and, against all attempts, i cannot seem to get a ticket on Trailways on any leg, nor Lakefront Lines, both sending me to Greyhound Lines instead. (nonsense given the entire point of Trailways, to be an alternative competitor to Greyhound) Even Greyhound would send me west to ashland, north to Columbus, back west to Wheeling, and north to Pittsburgh. The more logical route would be due northeast to morgantown and north. anyway, instead of a more direct route, it sends me a less logical path...any elaboration?

  • Improving attractiveness?

    okay, a two parter

    1) I am of college age, but look nothing like any of the other guys on campus, they are all large, tall, well built, dare say, attractive. I am tall, but am not anywhere near as muscular, built, or, dare say, attractive as the others (not to sound pessimistic) How do i get built real fast using logical, legal, and safe methods.

    2) I am also not as flirtatious, dare say, cocky, or as, well, eherm...-active as the others...advice?

Added note...logical answers from preferably male responders.

  • Why are commercial aircraft boarded from the left?

Some early Convair 240's were boarded from the right with airstairs at the R1 door, but later 340's and all newer aircraft to date are boarded at jetways on the right, ground stairs on the right, and aircraft with airstairs, are placed on the right...why is this?

  • Commerical Hours of Service?

For a commercial interstate driver, is it necessary to have time "Off duty" or is it interchangeable with time in the "Sleeper Berth". For Example, Driver A drives his 8 hours, switches with Driver B, who continues to drive, as A is in the berth. Driver B exhausts his 8 hours, proceeds to the berth, and is relieved by Driver C, who, 8 hours later is relieved by Driver A again, and so on and so on. Is this possible with the truck moving virtually constantly or is there something i am missing...before asking, a group, myself included, is going out for our Class A's and becoming a Trio of co-drivers.

  • Fueling an antique kerosene lamp?

I was considering obtaining an antique kerosene lamp, for, you know, whenever, and considered the fuels that can (should?) be used in those lamps. I know Kerosene works, and a filling station near (ehh...kinda) sells kerosene out of a pump, but just considering the alternatives. somewhere i heard about the commonality of Kerosene with Diesel, wondering if that would also work. The latter would be beneficial as i drive a diesel ergo supply of fuel...

  • Ashtabula River Railroad Disaster?

In research, i came across the disaster, and was wondering the history of the bridge post-wreck. Was it rebuilt, rubble left, cleaned up and covered up, or what have you...is there a current bridge at or near its position, and what was the chain of ownership. Greatly appreciated.

  • Audi A3 Acceleration Lag?

ca. '12 A3 with 2.0L Diesel, 6 speed S-Tronic Transmission. When starting from a stop onto a highway or other quick need for power, i quickly push the accelerator, but there is a small lag between the command and the car actually accelerating. On similar note, going up hills at reduced speed, the engine seems 'luggy' and does not seem to have the vast power that it does on the highway...any insight or advice?

  • How could the crash in "Airport 1975" actually have happened?
