Commerical Hours of Service?

For a commercial interstate driver, is it necessary to have time "Off duty" or is it interchangeable with time in the "Sleeper Berth". For Example, Driver A drives his 8 hours, switches with Driver B, who continues to drive, as A is in the berth. Driver B exhausts his 8 hours, proceeds to the berth, and is relieved by Driver C, who, 8 hours later is relieved by Driver A again, and so on and so on. Is this possible with the truck moving virtually constantly or is there something i am missing...before asking, a group, myself included, is going out for our Class A's and becoming a Trio of co-drivers.

I've tried driving team with two people in the truck. That was difficult. I can't imagine what it would be like with THREE, but essentially you are correct. As long as each driver logs at least 8 hours in the sleeper and another two off duty for a total of 10 hours off between driving, you're good to go.

If you only log 8 hours of work every day, you'll never hit the 70 hours in 8 days that would trigger the mandatory 34-hour rest break, and you'll also avoid that required 30 minute rest stop that takes effect in July of 2013.

Airliners have lifetimes expressed in hours of flight and cycles (one takeoff and one landing counts as a single cycle). maintenance is performed in extra and extra in contact classes over extra and extra long durations. Minor assessments are carried out usually and require purely a quick time; important assessments are carried out purely after particularly some hours or cycles and require that the airplane be immobilized for a time. that is all very intently planned out via the producer in accordance with air regulations. assessments are often stated as A, B, C, and D, in increasing order of era and complexity. An A verify is carried out each and every one hundred hours or so, and takes some hours. A D verify is carried out each and every few years, and can take days. Cycles are significant besides to entire hours because of the fact each and every cycle places particular stresses on the airplane that are self sufficient of entire flight time. as an occasion, each and every flight encompasses a pressurization cycle, which places stress on the airframe that progressively will strengthen placed on and tear—and this stress is form of an analogous no remember how long each and every person flight would be. So, how long the airplane flies between maintenance classes relies upon on what you call maintenance. some issues are regarded at after each and every flight; others are checked purely each and every 5 years or so, or purely after a definite style of cycles. airplane can fly for many many years as long as they're top maintained. A 30-twelve months-previous airplane flies only as properly as a three-month-previous airplane. And airplane are not getting drained, so as long as they don't seem to be cutting-edge technique maintenance, they're flying, with airways scheduling issues as a fashion to decrease the quantity of time that any airplane spends on the floor. A airplane on the floor is dropping money; a airplane in flight is getting money.
