  • Where can I SCUBA in Half Moon Cay, Bahamas?

I'll be in Half Moon Cay for the day (going on a cruise ship) and would like to SCUBA. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't seem to find anything online...

  • How active is my corn snake supposed to be?

I've had him for about three weeks - he started out shy, but now he seems to be "begging" to get out of his tank and be held. If he isn't in my pocket or otherwise being lavished with attention, he seems to be lonely - if snakes get lonely. I can't carry him everywhere, though I am trying... would he be happier with another snake? He even lets the cat sit on him - he is that desperate for attention!

  • What is the most sociable snake to keep as a pet?

I am ready to get another snake (had a burmese python in the house when I was younger and we had to give her up when she reached 12 feet) and now I want something that will max out at less than 5 feet. I like cornsnakes due to their coloration, but if anyone knows of a friendlier snake, please advise!

    B) School of thought says 4.5 billion years

and if you believe that creationism and evolution can co-exsist - then what do you think about the fact that humans haven't gotten a little bit further along that we are?

  • Going green with the laundry?

I already try to do as few loads as possible per week, make sure the washer is full and I wash/dry all at once to save energy heating up the dryer. I use the bouncy balls instead of fabric softener and use an environmentally friendly detergent.

Do I NEED the extra rinse cycle? None of my things are heavily soiled.

And is it ok to wash everything in warm/cold? From an energy conserving standpoint versus ruining my clothes....

And is there anything else I can be doing short of line-drying my things? It's way too cold now - worked ok in the summer but I am not too keen on pulling frozen bras off the line.

  • Twilight junkies - what do you think of Robert Pattison?

I LOVE the Twilight saga - do not in any way misconstrue this as a dig at the book/movie/actors....

Fans - are you happy with who they cast for the role of Edward? Would you have picked someone else?

What about the rest of the cast? Are they hot enough to be "Cullens"?

I guess this is why I am not a casting director. I don't exactly love Robert for this role, but I don't know who I would have picked. I don't think there is anyone out there that could live up to the image I built in my mind while reading the books.

  • Vegetarians/vegans- how are you handling Thanksgiving at the in-laws?

After 12 years of being in the family, my in-laws still think I am going through some "phase" or another where I won't eat their cooking. The current "phase" is vegetarianism. Mom-in-law cooks EVERYTHING in bacon grease and usually deep-fries a turkey, bakes a turkey, bakes a ham - and uses the drippings for seasoning everything else. Other than bread, there is absolutely nothing on the table I can eat - ever. She even tosses the salad with bacon drippings.

My hubby has been veggie for about 7 months now (partly because of health reasons, partly because of me) and the in laws are convinced he is just in a phase, too, like I made him join my "cult".

Every big family meal, I prepare a few dishes and bring them along so I will have something I can eat - but they still make me feel awful for doing so. I've tried to rationalize with them, but they are meat and potato deer hunting gun toting southern Baptists....

When they come to dinner here, I make sure to prepare something with meat - and stock up on white bread and soda. I am a very accommodating hostess.

Am I on a soapbox for no reason? This appears to be a battle I shall never win.

Am I being rude? I'm not even asking her to make anything special for us - I'm bringing my own food. Everyone potlucks - but when I do it they make me feel like I just ran over their dog.

  • If Ben Franklin said: " Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy,"?

does that make one of our founding fathers incahoots with Satan?

if so, is this country built on truth, justice and the American way - or is the devil using all the politicians as puppets?

  • How to get superglue off my laptop?

So I had some drama today and had to superglue a cut on the tip of my finger. It hadn't quite dried before I decided to check my email and I smeared some superglue on the mousepad part of the laptop.

    What takes it off?

  • Hey, is this a bad omen?

So this week I used up the last (like 6 inches or less) of each of three floss dispensers. Do you think it means anything besides I need to get more floss? I hear bad things happen in threes, so maybe the bad part is over?

  • Bringing your own bags?

Does anyone else find they are met with resistance/hostility when you bring your own bags to Wal-Mart?

Every time I go in there, I bring my own bags. I hate plastic. I hate paper. I hate Wal-Mart, too.

The cashiers are rude/put out/frustrated at the least when I announce I have my own bags - even though Wal-Mart sells the damn things two feet from the checkout lane.

I got in yet ANOTHER argument today for daring to use my own bags in the self-check (which i only used to escape the surly *** cashiers)

  • How to fix a soup that came out hotter than - you know...

So I bought some peppers at the farmer's market - I didn't think they LOOKED like scotch bonnet - not really, but the lady swore up and down that they were.

Anyways, now I've made soup and suspect the damn peppers were fatalli (which I find to be much hotter than a scotch bonnet, but maybe that is just me) At any rate, I have a headache just from tasting it...

Any way to fix it or should I just toss it out and hope it doesn't kill the lawn?

  • How to read PCAT scores?

My husband's scores came in the mail today and I am hiding them until I know how he did. Can someone help me understand what I am looking at? Is the composite score the one we are most interested in? What is considered a GOOD score? What the heck is the scaled score?

Please don't link me to any PCAT websites - I'm obviously not smart enough to understand their explanations or I wouldn't be asking you guys...

  • How to deal with annoying new brother in law on our annual family cruise?

I go on a cruise every year with my immediate family - mom, brother, sister, my husband of (now) 12 years, and whatever spouse my siblings bring along (it's different almost every year)

Only this year, everyone (including my sister) wants to push brother-in-law overboard.

He's a talker - he knows EVERYTHING or is best friends with someone who does... you know the type...sigh.

Any tips on how to ignore him and have a good time? Don't remind me that it IS a big boat - my mother likes us to have all meals together and do the same shore excursions. Escaping him is not an option.

And if you don't have any advice on ignoring him - how about suggestions on things to shut him up?
