Mr ex has it right. Most mainstream Christian denominations acknowledge evolution, the same as they acknowledge the Earth is 4.6 billion years old, and circles the Sun. I mean Catholics, Methodists, Lutheran, Presbyterians,Episcopalians, etc. They usually say something like the physical world is described by science, but God gave man his soul. That there is the sphere of the physical world and the sphere of religion, and that the church gives answers in its sphere, and science gives answers in its own sphere.

So most Christians are allowed to accept evolution, not creationism. It is just the fundamentalists who don't allow it, but they are very loud and persistent so they make it seem like they are a larger percentage than they are.

Jewish sects; most Jews accept evolution, same as above. The stricter sects do not. Some claim the Earth is only 6,000 years old, like the Christian Fundamentalists.

Source(s): Atheist. Was Episcopalian for many years. No clergy in the Episcopal Church has a problem with evolution. They do have a problem with fundamentalists. Think fundies have very poor theology as well as very poor science.

    Judaism And Evolution

Some Christian churches acknowledge evolution, some refute it. The Bible is a complex piece of literature and not all information is on the surface but some churches only see the surface information. That is why the Bible says to "Seek and you shall find" in a way, it is interactive.

The Jewish gives a little more flexibility to individual interpretation so if you want to read in between the lines then it is not so looked down upon. The Christian church had a problem, early on, with religions such as what is called Gnonstic information which almost destroyed the religion. The religion had to resort to one line of thought in order to define itself. Many churches stay within this line of thought but it may be overlooking information that Jesus had access but never spoke upon. It is just individual interpretation causes much problem for the ones in charge of the church and they therfore want to keep it simple. The Catholic church and some others are starting to venture into the more difficult path

Traditional and observant Jewish groups have gone on record saying that they deny evolution because the five books of Moses don't coincide with it. Muslims deny it the same way that Christians do.

From what I've observed, some do. However, if they want to take the word of the old testament to be factual then they should not. God does not talk of evolution, he created the world we see today with the animals and people. He made the world around 6,000 years ago and everything was about the same then as it is today, with the exception of technology. So if a person is a true Jew and holds faithful to the old testament then he should not believe in evolution.

But there are a Jews today who are more...I dunno, "New Age?" Along with Christians they have incorporated a belief in evolution with creationalism. It's almost like they are seeing the mountains of evidence that support evolution, so instead of denouncing their faith or looking incredibly ignorant to facts they merge the two together.

    Orthodox, no

    Conservative: maybe

    Reformed: Usually

Generally people that think outside of the box acknowledge a possibility where evolution and creationism co-exist

Nobody has ever seemed to examine my approach: Evolution is evidence of a living God because it indicates a continuing creation. He's still tinkering with it.

Why is it that the people who know how to run the country are all so busy cutting hair, tending bar and driving taxis? I mean, Israel has a Cab-driver's political party.

evolution is a failure even in scientific terms - see http://dafyomireview.com/chovos/jewish_views_on_ev... it is just the closest scientific explanation for life that scientists can think of without resorting to the supernatural

well, it depends. Some orthodox, very literal christians do not, but most do. Same with jews, some orthodox, very literal jews do not, but most do.
