My computer can't detect any microphone drivers?

Yes I have tried downloading them but the computer still doesn't recognize them they literally don't exist to my computer so no microphones except for the built in one will work

I really need to fix this because the microphone sucks and my friends often have trouble hearing me so that they have to turn their volume up and everyone else down

Also it has been like this since I got the computer the only microphones that work are bluetooth ones but those are my sisters so she won't let me use them all day

    Flash drives?

    Favourite answer:

Your 2014 Mac may indeed be equipped with USB 3.0 ports.

I have a 2011 vintage Thinkpad and it came with one USB 3.0 port.

I'm sure a Mac built 3 years later would have to have a USB 3.0 port.  Get a USB 3.0 flash drive and see what happens.  Worst comes to worse, it reverts back to 2.0 and still works.

Will a Windows 10 recovery usb work on someone else's computer?

My mother's computer isn't working and we have been told that she needs a recovery stick to repair it. The problem is she has either lost her recovery stick or it wasn't supplied when she bought the computer. However, I have one for my computer and it is also Windows 10. I was wondering if I could use mine to fix her computer, or is it coded or something?

Is a wireless mouse really necessary for a desktop computer?

I stopped using a wired mouse several years ago because people to me that a wired mouse is old school and stupid to use at this day and age. But I don't know.... ever since I was using a wireless mouse, it's a headache having to keep replacing the batteries, not to mention, an added expenses as well. And now that I've been working from home during this pandemic, I am flying through AA batteries soooo fast. It's crazy to deal with this because I'm using a desktop computer and the mouse is always on the desk and never gets moved far away from the computer. Maybe a laptop, I can understand since laptops get moved everywhere, but for a desktop, it just seems unnecessary and I don't understand why nobody uses a wired mouse anymore.

Does everyone here really think it's necessary to use a wireless mouse and waste batteries when using a desktop computer?

If I call support about my hardrive will they be able to see my private documents?

My portable wd hard drive is not working. I tried YouTube for help and a new cord and it has not been working.

If I call support and provide a serial number can they use that to see what's on my hard drive?

Kind of a noob question but with technology these days it's best to make sure.

Should I buy a 1 TB or 2 TB external hard drive?

I'm looking to buy an external hard drive to store all my videos, photos and music. Over the years, I have accumulated around 300 GB of all that. So 1 TB seems to be plenty for what I need. But my local Best Buy has a 1 TB external hard drive for $50 and 2 TB for $60, only $10 more. While the 1 TB is plenty for what I need, it's literally just $10 more for double the amount of storage. That's a very small price increase for that added safety net of space should I ever need it... if I ever do.

Should I buy the 2 TB hard drive since it's only $10 more? Or should I just get the 1 TB since it's more than enough space I need right now?

My SEAGATE expansion 4TB hard external drive doesn't auto-play anymore when I plug it in?

The hard drive does work, as in I can still open it under My PC in Windows 10. But the drive  doesn't pop up automatically anymore when I plug it in, in other words, it doesn't Autoplay on its own. Do you think it needs formatting?

Why are external hard drives better than USB flash drives for long term storage?

    Favourite answer:

So you are getting a few terms combined which is causing confusion

    Reliability wise

Tape drives are the most reliable

    Enterprise SSDs are next

    Consumer SSDs are after that

    Hard drives are next

and flash drives are the least reliable

Flash drives (to make them cheaper) have no wear leveling and generally use cheaper flash which dies much quicker.

in perfect storage conditions a flash drive will lose data after 5-7 years un powered

hdds can generally last 7-10 before the disks start failing from disuse

SSDs can store data unpowered for up to 25 years (each degree C above room temp they lose 1 year of unpowered data retention, and each degree below C they gain 1 year of unpowered data retention up to 30 years max)

Tape drives can easily store data for 30-50 years unpowered (they are what most companies use to store data as they are very reliable)
