Should I buy a 1 TB or 2 TB external hard drive?
I'm looking to buy an external hard drive to store all my videos, photos and music. Over the years, I have accumulated around 300 GB of all that. So 1 TB seems to be plenty for what I need. But my local Best Buy has a 1 TB external hard drive for $50 and 2 TB for $60, only $10 more. While the 1 TB is plenty for what I need, it's literally just $10 more for double the amount of storage. That's a very small price increase for that added safety net of space should I ever need it... if I ever do.
Should I buy the 2 TB hard drive since it's only $10 more? Or should I just get the 1 TB since it's more than enough space I need right now?

A 2 Terabyte Hard drive is most likely going to give you more data storage per unit cost and hence will be a better buy. ... Also, a higher data capacity means a higher data density, which may translate to faster accessibility and transfer rates.

If just for storage then 1 TB should be fine. For completing processes it depends on what processes as well as drive speed and RAM. I do a lot of tabbing in and out of various programs, and while I do have a 1 TB hard drive, I would rather upgrade my hard drive RPM's and RAM before adding a 2 TB hard drive. I had a faster hard drive before this one and the difference is noticeable but if just for storage then speed probably isn't a factor for you. That said, it's only $10 more, wtf are you asking for - of course you get the 2 TB over the 1 TB. How are you able to even own a computer if you can't figure that out?

i have a 8TB and a 2TB the biggest the size the better!
it takes a long time to defrag that space though!
get a 8TB drive!

I'd say yes, buy the 2TB for only $10 more. But shop around first, and do your research into what drives are reliable. You might find the same thing much cheaper on Tiger Direct or NewEgg. I bought a couple of WD 6TB external drives for around $100 each, and so far they've been very reliable. (But I only use them occasionally to run backups. When not in use they're in a safe location as an emergency backup.)

remember 2 things , the more you put on a hard drive the longer it takes to load it , and drives come in 2 speeds , either the 5,000 rpm or the faster 7,200 rpm ..also the connector is it the slow usb2 or the faster usb 3 .

Go for the 2GB, but word to the wise... don't put all your eggs in one basket. I've been burned by failing external drives, and the one I'm using now is just a backup and a place for stuff I don't care if I lose.
