  • I think this is a one sided question. Every country will have its own racist view on foreigners.

Yes there have been several racist incidents which have happened recently between Poles and students from Pakistan, Nigeria and India. Polish people in general are not too used to immigrants. Poland is not a multicultural country and attitudes to certain foreigners can be negative.

Indeed it does. The last anti-Jewish pogrom in Poland took place in 1946, which as you will appreciate - is a year after WWII ENDED. This rather makes the Polish claims of non-involvment in the unpleasantness of the previous years rather less credible.

In my workplace, I am blessed to have the company of Poles, Turks, Greeks, South Americans, Africans etc, and I have been able to observe the ways in which these various peoples mix. The only problem so far has been the difficulty we have experienced in getting the Poles to understand that those of their colleagues who happen to have an African heritage, do not appreciate some of the attitudes and actions they find the Poles have brought with them from their land in the East.

every country on Earth has racists. Even in those where you might expect none, like Vatican City where I briefly lived, working with a rabidly racist black African nun (she was anti-semitic and also hated Oriental people).

    Poland is no exception.

And yet---one of my best childhood friends had parents (Roman Catholics!), who emigrated from Poland

largely because they helped their Jewish friends and neighbors escape the Nazis!

God Bless you, Chester and Julia!
