    She walks 24.5 miles in a week (7 x 3.5 miles)

    You just need to multiply 3 1/2 by 7

    3 x 7 = 21 ... and ... 1/2 x 7 = 3 1/2

    and now add 21 and 3 1/2

    Michelle walks 24 1/2 miles a week

    OR to make it easier ... 3 1/2 is 3.5

    3.5 x 7 = 24.5 miles a week ... 24 1/2 miles

    Well, there are 7 days in a week.  Multiply 3.5 (3 1/2) by 7.

    Simple.
