  • How to recover Windows 7 laptop?

I am pretty sure my son's laptop was messed up by viruses now I cannot log into it. Is it possible to use the recovery drive from my laptop (both use Windows 7) and could there be license issues?

Both are Acer laptops with similar specs except his is an i3 and mine is an i5.

  • Someone keeps calling my wife from a private number?

This person keeps calling and hangs up when she answers.

Is there anything we can do about it other than getting a new phone number?

  • what is the limit of (tan x)/4x with x approaching 0?

Help please. My math group says I must take a derivative of it, but can you just take a derivative is the question is to calculate a limit? I'm thinking it is 0/0 = infinity.

  • Will you Christians at least admit this?

    You cannot see god.

    You cannot hear god.

    You cannot smell god.

Let's leave out the taste one.

You cannot feel god (by touch).

That means you cannot sense god using the senses you use to experience reality.

You speak to god, but he never answers (by speaking). You thank god for things that would be there whether god exists or not; like being happy, sunsets, sunrise, flowers, animals, your parents being alive, you being alive, passing your exams, getting someone to love you. You narrowly miss being hit by a bus, and you thank god for saving your life.

In other words, god has no demonstrable effect on this world.

What do you present as proof: The Bible. The Bible which was supposedly written/inspired by god, yet it shows god to be a malicious, dangerous, moody, destructive being who does terrible things and orders his chosen people to do terrible things. You can so easily say the Old Testament is the "laws of the past and can be ignored", but take a good long look at the old testament and see how much of it is "laws" and how much of it is god being evil.He orders his people to kill men, women and children. He orders his people to keep the virgins (young women and girls) and "keep them as wives" (rape them). It is all in the Bible and you cannot deny it. Let's mention god condoning slavery and the Dark Ages.

So I'm asking is this, "Will you admit that it could very well be all in your head and the bible could be a book of lies/half-truths/questionable history?"

  • Religionists, does it worry you?

that atheists and non-religious people in general are intelligent, usually well-educated people?

All you have to back yourself up are your feelings and provably dodgy "holy" books while we use science, knowledge and scientifically proven things to back up our position.

Isn't there a small part of you that's thinking, "These people use science as their weapon. Surely they can't be wrong?"

  • Vector math problems?

The following are questions from my textbook which I cannot figure out:

    Question 5:

    Find a unit vector that is orthogonal to both u = (1,1,0) and v = (-1,0,1).

I tried turning the dot products into a linear system but it doesn't work out. I get a vector orthogonal to u, but it's not orthogonal to v.

    Question 7:

    Do the points A(1, 1, 1), B(-2, 0, 3) and C(-3, -1, 1) forrm the vertices of a right triangle?

According to the textbook the answer is "Yes" but if I use dot product then none of A, B or C seem to be orthogonal. Some help would be appreciated.

  • Are all atheists like this?

or does Y!A attract the bad ones only? In here atheists are disrespectful, rude, insulting and pretty much give all atheists a bad name. The atheists here also as a rule think that theists are stupid and intellectually stunted. Surely you can debate and disagree without showing really poor character?

  • Is this proof against God?

The main idea behind God creating man is that we were created for a purpose and the universe was created as our home. For hundreds of years people who went against that were executed and tortured in the most heinous fashion.

    Here's the proof:

Objects in space including stars, other planets and planetoids have very little or no effect on us (excluding the sun and the moon which were apparently created for us being that light that rules the day and the light that rules the night). Whey would God create all these things? 99.99999% of the universe is unseen and will never even be seen by mankind (and has no effect on us) so why create all these things? There is tonnes of evidence out there that the planets and pretty much everything came about by natural means and pretty much zero evidence that they were created. The only way we will reach any extra-earth objects is with the help of science and Abrahamic religion has always fought against science. If it wasn't for religion oppressing science we might be living on other planets by now, i.e. if God even created Mars for us religion has fought against us getting there. I might even add the hundreds if not thousands or millions of species of undersea life (which has little or no effect on us) which we wouldn't find if not for science.

  • Atheists, don't you think everyone deserves respect?

More often than not atheists insult, abuse and ridicule people who are not atheists, especially deists and theists. I'm an agnostic and I have been the target of a few insults and rude remarks myself. Just because someone does not agree with you does not give you the right to insult or demean them.

I'm putting it in this section because this is where most of you hang out.

  • If the world is coming to an end in December?

shouldn't there be signs already with only 4 months left?

There certainly have been signs like the Japan disaster and the volcano in NZ. Has there been enough to convince a non-believer?

  • Existing memory replaying itself or something else?

Something weird happened to me this morning. I was walking out of my bedroom carrying my laptop in front of me then I saw my kitten run between my legs (or so I thought). She ran towards me and disappeared under the laptop. I looked behind me but she was not there and when I went into the next room she was sleeping on the bed on a plastic bag. I would have seen her if she doubled back and I would've heard her get on the plastic bag never mind the fact that she was fast asleep. It is impossible for her to gotten there and fallen asleep in that short space of time.

To me there is only 2 possibilities:

    1. My cat astral-projected or something like that. Yes, I know, just putting it out there.

    2. Somehow an existing memory replayed itself.

I have never heard of this and if anyone else told me this I would've told them they're dreaming or lying or putting me on.

What I would like to know is if this kind of phenomenon is common, has a name, is a sign of possible mental issues or even brain health issues or if anyone knows of websites about it.

Unfortunately there are people in Y!A who do nothing but insult and troll and this would be seen by many as an ideal opportunity to belittle someone they don't know. I would appreciate it if people who do answer give me serious answers even if they're only speculating. Thank you.

  • Warcraft players what is your opinion of Diablo 3?

If you have Warcraft and Diablo 3 what is your opinion of D3 so far? Do you agree that D3 looks like a clone of Warcraft? I am quite disappointed after installing D3 and started off with a barbarian and levelled up once. I'm sure there's more to the game later on but up til now it looks too much like Warcraft.

Can you allocate skillpoints when you level up or are they allocated automatically? I went to the character screen but cannot find the place to use my skillpoints.

  • How can I find out if someone is hacking me?

Sometimes my laptop slows down quite a lot and I definitely did not do anything at that time which would slow it down. It's not just my internet speed. I play a game which is not online and it goes very slow and sometimes stops then goes again. I have a feeling that someone is downloading stuff from my laptop through the internet.

  • What's the point of repenting if I'm going to be judged for everything I've done?

I am 44 and I have been quite sinful in that 44 years. I get conflicting info depending on who I speak to but one version I heard is that at the end times (or at my end time) I will be judged on what I did my entire life. I lied, I stole, I had plenty sinful thoughts and I'm currently living in sin. So if I'm going to be judged on all those things then I'm screwed. How will it help me if I marry my girlfriend, stop sinning and repent now? Even if I repent now I am only human and I am likely to sin again.

What about someone who has committed a crime like murder. What's the point of being born again if they are going to be judged on those crimes?

There will probably be people who will say "Repent and all will be forgiven", but I repeat, I am human and I will sin again. There is nothing I can do about that.

  • Why do evolutionists get into such a tizzy about us evolving from apes?

Let's assume that macro-evolution (species evolving into other species) is true for this argument:

Man and apes evolved from a common ancestor. What did this common ancestor look like? Like a dog? A cockroach? A lion? Of course not. It looked like an ape. It had to. It was a mammal, a primate and it was hairy. It was an ape. Whether you want to call it an ape or a "common ancestor" does not change a thing regarding evolutionary theory so why do you guys get so riled up about people calling it an ape?

  • If God knows everything including the future as Christians claim?

then why did he create the world knowing that people would eventually murder, rape, steal, abuse, etc? If you knew that in the future millions of people would rape and murder children and women would you still create man? Christians argue that God created everything perfect but all the murder, etc was created by the fall of man. How can you say man was created perfect when the very first 2 people he created went against him?

So what I'm saying is that this is a strong argument against God being all-powerful, omnipotent and omnipresent. If you take this qualities away wouldn't it automatically negate the possibility of a god?

  • Can anyone tell me what Taylor Swift did to end up in the R&S section?

It looks like she did something which made her anti-atheist or which made atheists anti her. I don't like Taylor Swift and I'm not American, which might be why I dunno what happened.

  • Why do Christians refuse to get this?

    1. Just because you believe in something does not mean it's true. I am not going to Hell because I don't believe in God. Hell does not exist either. What makes you right and me wrong? Just because about 2 billion people believe in God does not make them right either. You have to prove it and you know you can't.

    2. God gave us free will but he wants us to have blind unquestioning faith in him? Do I need to explain this one?

    3. God gave us free will but he knows our past, present and future. How can you have free will but God knows exactly what you are gonna do until the day you die? Um, that's not free will.

    4. How can there be only one God but so many different churches and different versions of the bible?

    5. How can the Bible be the word of God if it can be interpreted in so many different ways. Some Christians say it's all metaphor and others say it's the literal word of God. Some Christians say the 7 days of creation was 7 x 24 while other Christians say they were seven "ages" of unknown lengths.

    6. A bishop worked out that the universe is no more than 7000 years (6000 and odd). How can that be if you look at all the scientific proof that the Earth is at least 100s of 1000s if not billions of years old? You Christians cannot even agree on that. There are YECs and OECs.

    7. How can you fight the good fight against the unbelievers and convert other people to Christianity as God commanded but you are so divided in your "one" belief?

I am not an atheist, I am an agnostic and I'm yet to be convinced either way.
