It's not. The vast majority of South Africans are non-white.
Centuries ago, Dutch and then French and German colonists settled in South Africa. They became the dominant group, called Afrikaners, and their numbers were swelled by British settlers, but they were ALWAYS in the minority. By far the majority of South Africans are black or mixed-race.
That was the reason for Apartheid -- to try to control the non-whites and keep them down or away from white areas.
You really need to study the history.

The British invaded it for reasons that I still think are unclear. White South Africans have a weird version of the British dialect mixed a little bit with the indigenous Africans' way of speaking.
