It seems to me that they're trying to cram as much information as they can into as little time as they can.

There really is no "magic" or easy way to learn this, especially with a cramped schedule.

For me personally, one of the best ways of learning (especially with computers) is to do it with my hands. Grab a few old PCs you may have laying around (or buy some cheap ones), take them apart and put them back together. Learn about computer hardware and terminology, etc. The classes will teach you the "right" way of doing things, but then with hands-on experience, you'll learn that there are usually many different ways of doing the same thing.

You can try watching some of Professor Messer's videos on YouTube. He has a lot of videos covering topics from the A+, Network+, Security+ and some more. He is generally pretty thorough and explains things pretty good. He covers a lot of topics as well. Note: These videos should be used more for supplementary information rather than your only source of knowledge.

I'm going to be honest; the CCNA portion will most likely be even more difficult than the other ones. As you probably know, the CCNA is a Cisco certification for routing and switching. There is a lot theory to learn about networks and then you learn how to apply that theory specifically for Cisco routers and switches. It is pretty comprehensive and not entirely easy. From my experience in a couple of cisco classes, the most difficult part was the subnetting part. Understanding why you do it is easy (to break up an IP network into smaller networks), but wrapping your head around the concepts and methods can be daunting. You'll also have to learn a lot of common ports (port 80 for http; port 443 for https; etc)
