Why do people hate sneakernet?

Seems like every company is a against employees bringing in thumb drives (aka any type of removable media) to retrieve their data with. They want the user to store data on their private network and access the data at home on their private network. Either that or they want you to keep your data stored on a cloud account.

What is wrong with sneakernet that all companies are a against it?

Update:

companies claim that the disk drives could carry viruses, but they all seem to run virus protection software so that contradicts that argument.

because a USB xrive can be carrying viruses or malware, that when plugged in can do any number of things, such as:

    1. copying all your private business' documents ffom the local server

    2. sending said documents to a remote hacker

    3. sending a virus to every computer on the network

    4. ENCRYPTING all the documents on the shared server and holding them for "ransom"

    5. melting the computer from the USB drive, simply by overloading electricity in a feedback loop

    6. setting up spyware on any computer it is plugged in to

    and much much worse...

i have personally seen all of these things happen, and if you'd like to see some examples, try watching Mr. Robot or Scorpion, and tell me if you still think it should be allowed...
