No, people under-estimate how hard it is to pull the trigger on someone, however they do feel the 'Dutch Courage' all the way up to drawing on someone.

That paradox, of being more driven to 'confront', but unable to finish, that is how regular people with guns get killed. That's also why regular, law-abiding citizens should not have guns. It prevents confrontation.

Only Sociopaths can pull the trigger without hesitation, and too few regular-people are Sociopaths for it to be an efficient idea(the idea that it deters criminals).

Guns are readily available to nutters , making ordinary people a sitting duck for them without defence, tightly controlled handguns would make villains think twice.

Yes, I agree. I love guns but I do not love murder. Gun crime is thankfully rare in Britain, but not because of our draconian laws. Violent crime on the whole has gone down across Europe over the years regardless of approaches to law and order. I don't see why I should be denied the right to practise with handguns because of a tiny minority of lunatics. If you're determined enough and hateful enough, no law in the land can stop you doing a lot of damage to a lot of people.

I agree with nigel farage because why should we send our patriotic Olympic gun team to France just to learn how to shoot when we can simply do it here and yes I think law abiding citizens should have a right to own a handgun for legitimate reasons.

I agree with Celia. Dunblane was certainly a horrific event but it spawned the most ill-thought out spiteful legislation. A looney bent on destruction will always find a way and imposing such bans on law-abiding people serve no useful purpose. I have though this long before Mr Farage said anything about in, incidentally. But yes, he is right on this one.

There is no blanket ban in the UK. People are allowed to carry licensed hand guns in Northern Ireland.

Oddly enough, yes - provided all non-deactivated and non-antique handguns are required to be held in club armouries under very secure conditions, and issued on range days.

Most followers of shooting sports are actually very law abiding people.

We do not want so called law abiding citizens to have a gun and then if they hear a noise during the night reach for the gun and shoot someone.

This is not the USA and if people want a gun under their pillow go to the USA or South africa or somewhere where they have guns.

It is different if Farage is talking about letting our Olympic team train for the shooting events.

Fenced communities with armd guards will be in the UK soon so having a firearm in the house would be wise.
