Why go to university?

most Uni graduates start a salary of 40k-80k, from art graduates to engineers to doctors. Also don't forget about the college fees and tutors you gotta pay back.

While here in Australia, a qualified apprentice gets paid while training and study one a week at a tafe for 3 years and at the end starting his/hers salary at 150k+. Don't forget offshore jobs like electricians, plumbers etc can earn 200k +.

My question is why go to university if these positions with high pay are available? I know that a degree is far more reliable and respected world wide. So. Why?

You are comparing new graduate salary with electrician salary with 10 years post apprentice experience. A newly qualified electrician will only earn 150k (or more than 100k) if they move into their family business or purchase a business (200-300k). Have you looked at the job requirements? How many years experience do they require? Off who jobs require high level experience like major construction jobs, managerial experience etc. Do more research
