For regular MetroCards, only the Pay-Per-Ride MetroCards can be refilled. Unlimited MetroCards can't be refilled, so you have to purchase a new one whenever you need one.

No, if you buy Monthly MetroCard at station agent booth, MetroCard Mobile (bus/van), MetroCard Vending Machine or MetroCard merchants, you can't refill Unlimited MetroCard.

Only Monthly MetroCard that can be refilled is Easy Pay Monthly MetroCard with two credit card purchase via website.

Auto refills of your MetroCard can be done by following the information below. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new card every month:

•Your EasyPayXpress MetroCard is time-based and works just like any other 30-Day MetroCard except you'll now have the convenience of one MetroCard that automatically refills itself. Your account opens with the 30-Day unlimited ride fare of $104 that’s the same fare that you would pay at vending machines, booths, or out-of-system vendors.

•You activate the 30-day period on

the day you first use your card.

•Ride as many times as you like

for 30 consecutive days, starting with the day you first swipe.

•With your EasyPayXpress Unlimited MetroCard, you can ride on all subways and local buses, but NOT on express buses.

•Your EasyPayXpress MetroCard refills automatically at the end of every 30-day period, and you will be notified by email a few days before (in case you want to change to the Pay-Per-Ride mode).

*If you choose the 30-Day Unlimited Ride option, we require two (2) credit/debit card accounts.

To make it simple, monthly unlimited ride MetroCards can not be refill. Therefore, you will need to by a new monthly pass at the beginning of the month.
