  • Breast cancer survivors: How long was it before you regained your strength and energy after completing treatments?

My mom was diagnosed with stage 1 four years ago (no family history of breast cancer). She completed the treatments 2 and a half years ago, but she still doesn't fully have her strength and energy back. She did 6 rounds of chemo, 33 rounds of radiation, and 26 rounds of herceptin. She decided not to take the cancer pill because of the side effects.

She suffered an ankle injury 3 months before completing the treatments and has been immobile ever since. No surgery was needed on the ankle.

She rarely exercises and doesn't consult any dietitians/nutritionists and doesn't know what to eat and what to avoid eating. She planned on doing physical therapy, but Covid forced her to wait and she hasn't left the house since Covid started.

When will she get her strength and energy back and how can she regain her strength and energy? I've had to hit the pause button on my life and both me and my mom want our lives back. I want to have a life again and not be stuck in the nest caregiving.

Side note: Her oncologist died last month, so she can't contact her.

  • Hard, painful and moveable lymph node? Is it likely to be breast cancer-?!?!?

I have a hard round lump in the middle of my armpit deep down,it's a lymph node clearly. The area hurts and just started hurting 1 day ago. I had my covid shot in that same arm a WEEK,almost 2wks ago. I'm really worried. It's hard and very very slightly moves but not much. Is this cancer!? I'm really worried. I don't know if it was there before my shot. If it was from the shot why is it here this long later? It's about nickel sized. It almost feels like there's two. It's hard to feel unless I hunt for it. I'm in my 20s and a girl. There's like 3 there swollen it feels like. They feel like they move around when i touch them and they're hard. It is sore to touch suddenly. I can feel it when my arm is closed it's hard

  • I'm seeing a dr but does this sound like cancer or just a vaccine reaction?

  • Why does the government feel it has the right to make us mask up and get vaxxed?

With all the risks (read this morning that masks increase the chance of cancer and I don't trust vaccines and their numerous chemicals), I'd rather take my chances with the virus.

  • Is my mom lowering her expectations?

She's still recovering from breast cancer treatments from 2018. She's been immobile since suffering an ankle injury in 2018 (no surgery needed). She hardly exercises at all. She uses a quote about chemo taking out both bad and good things in your body as an excuse not to exercise. She refuses to call the American Cancer Society for advice (side note, her oncologist died last month).

She thinks eating will get her energy up. She doesn't consult a dietician or nutritionist and leans on her (lacks of) understanding. She's out of bed less and less frequently. The number of times she needs help sitting up on the side of the bed outnumber the number of times she's out of bed. She use to get her showers twice a week but for the past seven months, it's been once a week.

She, from my perspective, has no motivation to get moving and get better and idk how to get her motivated and get her to raise her expectations without upsetting or belittling her.

  • I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer with an unknown source. But what is the 'etiquette' of trying to priorities doctor's appointments?

Since my diagnosis 2 months, I've been seeing a therapist twice a week to work through the fact I have cancer.  I am also trying to deal with loss of my twin in the summer to cancer. I want to consider my mental health during this time also as I really think it will be a factor in my survival. However, the oncologist needs to find out what type of cancer I have in order to treat it. It has already spread and I still haven't received treatment. My oncologist is trying to book me in asap for MRIs and bone scans to make sure it hasn't spread to my bones.

I got a call from the Imaging booking office at the hospital telling me they got me in on Friday. I took the appointment. The appointment is 4 hours long because they need to inject the dye into my body and wait for it to seep into my bones before they scan. But, then I realised that my therapist had booked an appointment on Friday during that time. So, I emailed her and asked her if we could reschedule. Her response was surprising. She said 'I don't know how we can make this work'. I wrote her back and agreed to not take appointments during our session. But that was not a good thing for my self esteem or my health considering she has changed the times around a couple times since we started and now I feel like I'm cowtowing to her.

I have considered stopping with this therapist and taking advantage of the therapy offered at the cancer center.

What is the proper response in a situation like this? How should I prioritize?

  • Health anxiety about brain tumor. ?

6 weeks ago I woke up dizzy and lost balance. Doctor next day said infection anld very blocked in the other ear. Antibiotics cleared up the one ear, and I had other ear irrigated. Then aches happened in irrigated ear and more antibiotics (I drank for a few days in these). Since caught sons cold and sinus issues. Thing is I feel ongoing mild lightheadedness, focused from my nose + around temples. I'm worried about a brain tumor.
