Why All the Hoopla on Dante?

I watched the video.  He tried to flee from the police while they are trying to arrest him.  So nobody thought that was a dumb move?

Update:

For ppl saying the woman cop was wrong, no one is denying that.  But had Dante just followed orders, he would have live.  All the cop convictions and reform won't bring Dante back.

Great question. I’m surprised the Liberals have not reported it. Daunte made a mistake by calling his Mom for the Insurance Card. Second he should have admitted to having an open Warrant for his arrest. Third he should not have went into his car the way he did. The Police Officers had no idea what he was reaching for.

You have misspelled the 20-year-old young man's name, Joey.  It is Daunte, with a 'u'.  The vehicle in this "driving while black" episode was pulled over for one of two things: an air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror, which is what young Daunte thought was the pull-over reason (he told his mother on the phone) or else an expired tag on the license, neither of which is reason for an arrest, much less being shot to death.

Why the guns?  A police officer could simply walk up to the window, with his or her partner providing back-up at a slight distance, ask the driver to roll down the window, and let the driver know the problem---whichever of the petty infractions might have been the reason for the stop.  The options: Issue a warning and let them go, or write a ticket that would have to be paid.  Problem solved.

Quite a few current and former law enforcement professionals have been interviewed on CNN and MSNBC about how Officer Potter, a 28-year woman police veteran---someone who has actually trained subordinate officers on having the taser on the non-dominant hand side of their belt, and the gun on the dominant hand side---could "mistake" a laser for a gun as she claims to have done after shooting an unarmed Black man.  You probably speak from the safety of being Caucasian, Joey.  Correct?  It can be quite different for Black Americans, especially men and boys. There really is a built-in oftentimes subconscious systemic racism and stereotyping that goes on for people of color.  If Potter can convince a jury she really did mistake a laser for her gun, maybe she'll get a lighter sentence,  Let's wait and see what happens.

This is why we don't want fire-armed police in the UK.

Justice is irrelevant. HE was black and the cop was White.

"Dumb move" When fear hits, people make dumb move's.

Why all the hoopla, because a human is someone's son, brother, and we can see ourselves going through that; It's just inhumane.

personal I think we should stop calling each other name's like idiot, because it's not helpful.

Dumb move or not, it didn't justify getting shot.  If he was trying to flee, then he was no threat.  He could have been apprehended later.  He was unarmed, and essentially shot in the back, in cold blood.  Since when is it ok to do that?

Here's two more things you morons keep ignoring--1) the officer herself knew she had fvcked up big time--or she wouldn't have resigned.  Her boss resigned as well. 2) Prosecutors have charged her with manslaughter.  So THEY know it was wrong, too.  The only people who seem to be defending this murder are idiots like you.
