I mute the TV and play a computer game. Or I change the channel. Or go into the kitchen or bathroom.

SOMETIMES I just talk back to the commercial:

    Alcohol commercial?  "I don't drink"

Car insurance commercial?  "I don't own a car"

Food commercial? "that sure looks unhealthy .. I wouldn't eat it"

    Etc.

It is actually quite enjoyable even though you know that there is no one to heaar your rebuke.

I am an advertizer's veritable nightmare! A total waste of their money, and I don't let THEM waste MY time.  And I don't let them wreck my happiness and contentment, either.

I once queried the safety of a 'prescription-only' medicine given me by my G.P. I pointed out that I'd read the list of ingredients and had found that there are many unpleasant side-effects with this medication so preferred to not take it.  He said that it was pointless my visiting him if I was not going to take what he prescribed.  It should have been in my notes that I had had a nasty reaction to one of the ingredients which (on the previous occasion) was in a different medicine.  Those extra pieces on information should be highlighted for the sake of safety.

His answer to that was that I should not read the list of ingredients and then check out the safety of them because this was just frightening me.  For what reason did he think the list of ingredients was printed on the label if not to be read to ensure my own safety. HE ALSO should have that information in my notes and should not have needed MY prompting that some things are not safe for me to take.

I'm not a senior citizen but plan to be and YES!  They infuriate me.  All that fine print no human being can actual see and the list of side effects they feel are "ok"  to mention.  I find it interesting though which television shows have these type of commercials or which are advertised during which show.  If you pay attention they vary greatly.  Especially between day time and night time viewing.

I do understand that TV programs have to have sponsors to pay the bills. But it seems that it has become a business just to make money and anything else comes in second place. And the big pharmaceutical companies have deep pockets like the big tobacco companies use to have and the more time they buy on TV, the more they sell to make more money! It's nothing but greed for their stock holders. And what really hurts is that you can order their drugs from Canada for less then from here in the States! Is that fair to us?

    yes it is tiresome.

it proves that there is a lot of money in pushing drugs on seniors.

I am also tired of commercials trying to sell us their Medicare programs.  As much advertising as they do, there must be a ton of money in it.  If they didn't make so much money they wouldn't be fighting over us to join their service.

Yep.  Pretty annoying.  I used to try to look them up and find out what the ailment was but now I don't bother.
