Acting Career?
When famous actors start acting did they have a agent or did they do a lot of acting work etc etc?

Almost all professional actors, famous or otherwise, started by attending a local acting class and performing with a small community or youth theatre company.
If they then found out that they had real talent, they'd go on to audition for a place at a top acting/drama school where they'd study for several years at degree level. They'd be regularly performing to gain experience as well.
Only after graduating would a real agent consider signing them and finding real auditions for them.
