If lockdowns curb the spread of the virus by promoting social distancing, then why are cases still rising?

It's been more than a year with this pandemic, and, at this point, it feels like I'm losing so many brain cells just watching the news. If lockdowns curb the spread of the virus, then why are cases still rising? If everyone's forced to stay at home and nobody's out, then the virus can't find any host to infect, especially if you're in a public place. It just doesn't make any sense to me that cases are rising even though everyone's at home, or is it because the news continuously uses scare tactics for the general populace? One thing I hate about Yahoo! Answers sometimes is the trolls, so sensible comments are welcome and, if you make a stupid comment with no logic, I'll just ignore you and socially (and mentally) distance myself from you. I don't need to lose more brain cells.

Stop watching Fox News.   That feeling you are losing brain cells IS you losing brain cells.

  • Not every one is at home, some people (like myself) can't work from home but they're essential so they have to go to work. Some people don't care or their stubborn, or they don't want the government ruling their lives, or they think the pandemic is fake. Even though a lockdown was in place in my area on Easter weekend, people still went out visiting their families, and they went shopping. In my area there's no concerts, no stadiums and limited capacity in churches. They have to completely shut every thing down accept essentials, and people have to learn what essential means. Don't give people any where to go where they can gather.

For someone who claims to watch the news, you sure don’t know anything.

Cases are rising because most cities have gone out of lockdown. People are allowed to go to stores besides grocery stores. Stadiums are allowing fans to attend games. People are allowed to attend church. People can go to concerts. There’s that spring break in Florida. Does that sound like a lockdown to you.
