    Insects, seeds, fruits and vegetables.

In their native Australia they are known as budgerigars and the wild flocks eat the seeds of native grasses.

If grass seeds are in low supply they will eat flowers and fruit as well as grass stems.

They will even eat the occasional insect hiding in a flower but not a regular part of their diet.

They feed on seeding grasses far more than large parrots. In the wild, they also eat fruit, nectar from flowers, insects, and their larvae. And like the larger parrot species, they'll also eat tree seeds, fruits, berries, buds, and bark.
