How can I fit this hose adaptor to my garden tap? ?

Hi all, I had a garden tap fitted yesterday, bought a hose but just cannot seem to get it on. It says it is a universal adaptor but I can’t get the jist of it, can anyone help with this as it’s driving me mad and the instructions are useless. Thanks.

Or if I need to buy something else to get it to fit please let me know.

The brass piece on the faucet (ribbed) should be removed. That is a piece that should be connected to a hose.

Then, flip the piece in your hand over. That connects to the faucet threads.

Then, you get quick-connect/disconnect adapters for existing hoses or new hoses with the quick connect/disconnect part built-in.

    Search "hose quick connect".

Keep it simple.  Throw it away, get a clamp and clamp your garden hose to the brass faucet fitting with a screwdriver.  Those things leak when the o-ring goes bad.

If you still want to use it, you will need to buy the "female" universal connector and remove the brass fitting from the faucet.

Mmm J has it. The brass hose connector is more or less redundant. The one in your hand is the one to screw onto the pap. Then you fit a female connector to your hose. It's a better system as these plastic fittings are push fit connect and disconnect.

The universal connections are the male and female garden hose connectors.  It is the threaded hose fitting with the simple washer gasket which comes with the hose. What you bought is a speciality fitting that is unnecessary to connect the hose and will disappear when that company stops production.   Buy in a pair of small channel lock slip-pliers to assist your make-up of the universal garden hose connectors.
