Do you think country music sucks, and is overrated?

Granted, you have classic artists like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, but that's it.

It's just a genre about trucks, getting drunk, getting laid, farming and hats/boots. The guitar playing is so simplistic too. And country singers have become so effeminate.

There are other genres.......

Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins, Chet Atkins, those are the voices of beautiful country music long since past. Many more have come along. And many have nice voices, however, the golden years of true, beautiful country music, minus cut throat, drinking and hoopla is practically nonexistent. Therefore, I choose to walk all over this new junk listening to the musical artists who grace the choirs of heaven. Voices that were so heavenly here on earth!

I think we live in a here today gone tomorrow world and things aren't meant to last. I think country has gone away with pop. Don't get me wrong I like a number of new songs but then again years ago there was almost no country song I did not like and now there is quite a few. A song is catchy for a time and they cash in on the money and then its onto the next thing and the next thing and the thing after that. Country music is supposed to tell a story not just sing about boots, getting drunk, laid, farming, etc. You have to understand they made country trendy for the masses and trendies to have. I liked country when country was not cool and I used to want it to be but I guess I got my wish and it is not what I expected. After 2015 or so country became almost all pop and the same songs played day in and day out. When something becomes trendy it ruins it.

That's mainstream Country music. Try going beyond the mainstream pop you'll hear on the radio, and look for the good stuff that isn't on the radio. Yes drinking, trucks, farming is and has always been a part of Country music. But then there's many other topics that's covered, with most never getting anything in the way airplay. But you're only going to see, and hear what you want to hear, with Country music, or any other genre of modern music.

I don't like country music. So I don't listen to it. I don't care if anyone else listens to country music.

It’s no different than rappers just singing about drugs, pimping hos, and killing...  Or punk rockers singing about hating life and their fathers...  Country singers pander to their audience just like any other genre does...

I was pretty much raised on country music,, my collection goes from Jimmy Rogers to Eric Church and everything in between,,, and if that's all you think country is then friend you don't know much about country.

But yes, there are other genres,,, and my library has them all, from classical to rap.

I happen to like country music. It is a lot better than any other music out there.
