Is Country music officially dead?

Country music recorded in an old barn in rural Oklahoma doesn't count. It's Nashville or nothing. It's now just a genre of effeminate guys in hats, and near naked girls in boots.

Country died in 2011 or so.

It's not that it's dead, it's just not being promoted as other crap music is.

Country music is far from being officially dead, although some would like it to die. However it's not going anywhere really. If you want the old school style of Country music, then forget the mainstream you hear on the radio, and look at YouTube or other venues online for it. You'll find plenty of it out there.

It is not dead but holding on for dear life. They are trying to make it trendy and have been since at least 2015. Since 2011 there was still a lot of good songs and while maybe more pop music it still sounded good. There are still some songs I like but they are becoming more few and far in between

I think Alison Krauss would disagree with you.

I have to sadly agree.  Country music “jumped the shark” a while back now.  There was a time when they had the chance to straighten things out when Chris Stapleton and artists of his caliber were emerging.  But once it became acceptable to use trap beats in a country song with autotune?

Turn out the lights, the party’s over.

What they now call Country is just Rock or Folk music.
