How to find debt(s) with no credit?

Hello,

I am 21 years old, and I have never owned a credit card. I plan on getting one within the next month or two. However, before doing so, I would like to know if I have a fully clean slate starting out. I recently just paid a hospital bill that I didn't even realize existed for nearly two years. I had an injury at work, and I thought the bill was fully covered. I ended up leaving the area and didn't realize I had a bill/notice coming in the mail of my previous address. It is now paid for.
Before going to get a credit card to start building credit, I was wondering if there was a way to figure out if there are anymore bills that I may have overlooked?... I would like to not owe anyone any money without knowing so it doesn't hurt me starting out with building credit..

You have credit, bad credit. You won't be getting a credit card without a strong cosigner unless its a secured card.

Anything that is in a collection agency should show up on at least one of the three credit bureau reports.

Once per year,  you can get a FREE copy of your credit report from ALL THREE credit bureaus.  Checking this report can help you find any forgotten debts or challenge any wrong information.  (identity theft issues can be found by seeing wrong entries on your credit reports.)

Ask for copies of your credit reports and see what, if anything, is on them.

Maybe you can go to the Court House of the county that you lived in (if its a different one) and talk to someone in County Records to see if you owe anyone anything.
