What do you think of the genius Daily Mail strategy on how to beat the 5p charge?

It's almost like as if that was the whole purpose of it or something..

Obviously the geniuses at the Mail were up all night, coming up with that plan. My only gripe with it, is that they don't get behind the idea really. It's not about avoiding the 5p charge, it's about thinking differently to the past.

It's ridiculous - only the Daily Mail could call this a 'strategy'. The entire point of the 5p charge is to encourage people to waste fewer plastic bags by either re-using them or bringing alternative bags when they go shopping.

What's next, a Daily Mail 'strategy' on how to beat the smoking ban by "quitting smoking"?

So typical of the English to moan about such a simple common sense policy that so many countries have already implemented. There's even places in Texas that did this years ago, and not even a charge but an outright ban.

I used about 8 when I was at the supermarket. As I am an old man the assistant used to pack them for me and often only filled the carrier about half full so I ended up needing quite a few.

Since the ban, I just put them into the trolley put them into the car and unpack them at home.. I did get 3 of Tescos "bag for kife" but cant be bothered. The mail is obviously right of course but at some stage our stock of plastic bags is going to run out or wear out.

I made an exception yesterday when I was getting my vitamins from Boots.I paid 5 for one as it was in aid of Children in need.

Actually I consider it to be one of the most stupid and inconvenient ideas they ever came up with.

It's a stealth tax thought up by the green nutters. Small shops are allowed to keep the 5p so it's a tax. I saved up hundreds from my online deliveries and I use those which annoys them intensely lol.

The 5p doesn't stop me using them. Charge £1 a bag, that would work. That would stop me.

That is stunningly brilliant, and it is in big letters so nearly everyone can read it.

In fact it might be even easier to take your shopping home in your own bag than to try to get those big shopping carts on wheels into the boot of the car every time. They really clutter up the kitchen when you get home.
