What should I not miss during my 3 weeks in Vietnam. ?
I plan to Fly from Australia to Saigon and take the train to Hanoi. -- D

That is a ride of death...it is soooooooooo long and the air conditioning didn't work in the train car when I went. We had just changed from third class to second class after a kid puked on my leg. See Saigon, Phu Quoc and Da Lat.

i think you should take a flight from Saigon to Hanoi or hire a good car if you want to visit all area of Vietnam.

should visit Nha Trang, Phu Quoc.
but first of all, you have to apply a vietnam visa, my recommend is visa on arrival, cheap and fast
