Why are we allowing the Aussie travel section to be used as a political platform?

Why has it become ok for the TRAVEL section of YA to be used as a political platform for the views of a select few? This section is supposed to be about TRAVEL IN AUSTRALIA........not the political views of a few regulars. Isnt it time that we got back to the subject at hand?

Update:

ETA: Oh really Binga? My answer to your "question" wasnt rude, you just didnt like it.....there is a difference you know. Reporting it as hate speech was childish in the extreme. I will repeat, this is NOT a platform for your own political agendas.

MGD and Phil are correct in saying there's more chance of answers here. I have asked a political question both here and in Politics. I got one answer in Politics and about eight here. I don't mind general Australian questions here for that reason, but the tone has definitely gone downhill in the last few months and now even non-political questions cop a political rant from the obvious directions. For example, a simple "How is life in Australia" type question gets someone having a pointed whinge about the government (not mentioning any names). Unfortunately, it seems there are less genuine travel questions because of this.

If Yahoo decided to have a General Australia section without the Travel sign in front then that's where most of us would be.

In Political Section under Australia only most of the questions are on American Politics.

  • Just how many answers do you think Australians would give if they were posted in the Political section? which is dominated by Americans, and seldom visited by Australians for that very reason.

You posted in General Australia, but have to access it through travel, but that is only because of the American biased categories on YA. There is no specific "Politics. Australia" Category, or any other category where you would be able to ask and answer Australian questions. Blame the American-centric Yahoo for that, not the people who actually ask the questions.

    Hi Minimouse,

The literal answer to your question is - because there is nothing we can do about it.

I was lamenting that I was an Australian and wanted Aussie answers to a political questiona and I was getting Americans answering when I even selected Austalian section only .

Someone suggested I try the travel section and here I am.

    How about that?

    regards MIke D

But I concede your point that Travel should refer to Travel BUT we get a lot of non travel questions in this section - not just political questions.

It may well be the TRAVEL section, but it seems that many people ask questions about anything to do with Australia here, including politics, so I suppose people think it's OK to answer them. Does it matter?

It incredibly bothers me that a trip area ought to be used as a propaganda venting website. I agree that a political area ought to be chanced on for that rubbish and all people who desire to take part in it. i can comprehend how the individuals desirous to establish approximately trip to Israel experience. i could be maximum disenchanted if somebody did that to the Aussie area. something of the trip area seems to be like sparkling of that stuff.

Why ? Because Pollies are the most frequent travelers in the joint & the only way we can hope to keep up is to stir the pot here ...

Bear in mind that THEY travel at OUR expense & no economy class or 3 star flop houses for them , no sirree ! Nothing but the very best ....

It may interest you to know that Julia is off again today to fly the flack jacket in Bali & then face the music in downtown Calcutta ...nice life for some hey !

It is interesting to note that you haven't complained about insulting Qs concerning Tony Abbott,Alan Jones or even Pauline Hansen in the past.I also have seldom if ever seen anything of note posted by yourself. As Sheila says(and much more politely than your answer to my Q) it is the only section where one is guaranteed answers from Australians.
