advice on circumcision?

My boyfriend is 27 and is planning on getting circumcised. Has anyone else had any experience with this? How long is th ehealing at this age? How long does it hurt? How can I make him more comfortable? I'm looking for experiences from guys who had it done at this age, as well as the perspective of siginficant others who have helped their boyfriends through it.

Please no circumcision haters or smartass answers.

Thanks,

Jill

I hope your not pressuring him into this; it would be like losing your clitoral hood.

The foreskin contains more nerve endings than any other part of the penis, that's just fact. In the largest study on circumcision in South Korea, Seoul University found 33% of men who were circumcised reported difficulty attaining sexual gratification, 63% said masturbation less enjoyable, and 11% had "frequent" orgasm difficulties.

(Kim, Peng et all, Seoul University)

First and foremost, what is the foreskin? No, it is not a useless piece of unnecessary flesh, there to be hacked off like some offending tag on a new garment. It is a highly erogenous, erotically sensitive, male reproductive organ. Yes, organ. Like the clitoris and labial regions of a female the foreskin exists to aid in pleasurable reproduction. It houses 80-90% of the erotic nerve endings in the penis. It contains on the inner side, sebaceous glans that produce lubrication during sex and the sheath like nature of the foreskin allows for frictionless, pleasurable sex during full penetration. As a result of the removal of these vital sebaceous glans, most circumcised males require non natural lubrication during sex and masturbation, and are unable to take part in normal natural human intercourse.

Along side these sebaceous glans are a network of estrogenic sensing structures that aid in arousal and sexual reproduction. Very little is known about these structures as so many men have had them removed, although scientists are fairly certain that the foreskin is the only place in the body that these particular type of estrogenic sensors exist. There is a great deal of speculation in the medical community that the removal of the foreskin and these sensors could account for some cases of male erectile dysfunction.

Next to the sebaceous glands and the estrogenic sensors are a network of lymph nodes. Like any component of the lymphatic system ,when these lymph nodes are removed during circumcision it permanently disrupts the body’s natural lymphatic system. Doctors attribute heightened susceptibility to infection to the removal of these nodes. As well as affecting the immune system the removal of any part of the lymphatic system can affect the body’s natural circulation system as well.

Delicate structures line the inside of the foreskin and attach it to the penis. With time, sometimes as late as 18 years in age, these structures release and full extension of the penis is possible. Removal of the foreskin tears these fine structures and exposes skin meant to be kept moist, to the air, causing the head of the penis to dry out and loose much of it’s sensitivity sometimes up to 80%.

Can a circumcision go wrong? Hell yes. It is reported that every year aprox. 250 boys will die from complications due to circumcision, in North America alone. That doesn’t count the number of botched circumcisions that take place every year that boy’s live through. Everything from penile extension problems in adulthood from the shortening of the penis’s outer skin, severe and painful curvature of the penis to more serious injuries such as the severing of the urinary tract and the infection of staphylococcus bacteria in the surgical site which can cause life long damage to the genital region.

I've seen a couple of dudes with partials. When erect, it looks like they're cut, but when flacid, they have enough to cover the head about three quarters of the way. It's not a bad look, and you kinda get the best of both worlds. The very tip of the foreskin is removed (usually where the phemotic ring is), so it's not much at all. I got cut as an adult, and wouldn't go back if I could. I love it. And, contrary to what some on here will say, I haven't lost any sensitivity. Just don't let the doc do a dorsal slit on you; that doesn't look good at all. And I don't think the preputioplasty is such a bad option; it's way less healing time than either a partial or full circumcision. You may have to have it done again later in life, but if this is your only route, it's really not a bad option at all.

There are actually very few people that have had this experience and very few siginficant others who have helped their boyfriends through it. Only about 0.5% of males who are left intact at birth end up getting circumcised later in life.

He will go under anesthesia and then get pain meds during wound healing. The pain is bad, but is managed with pain meds. There are two non matching tissue types that need to heal together. This is not soethimng that heals quickly. Men are said to have a huge problme in dealing with sexual urges and the need to keep the stiches in order. The no sex and healing is typically about 6 weeks.

Please don't push this on him, that would be very wrong. It is very rare for a man or a woman to get circumcised on their own. There sometimes is societal pressure for men (and women)to do this, which is WRONG.

Make sure he considers the loss of thousands of nerve endings and what that entails. Some cut guys have PEissues and cut guys are 4.5 TIMES more likely to get ED and gert it at a much younger age than natural men.

Most of the worlds men are natural. That allows people to have natural sex, the way we evolved to have it. Circumcision is a weird thing -- a cutting off of the main male pleasure zones. This is tons of pleasure giving nerves, blood vessels, protective covering and pleasure zones. The dynamics of the penis is changed for good. A woman that says she likes cut men is no better than a man that says he likes cut women (circumcised women typically have had their clitoral hood and labia cut off). This is serious genital modification (mutilation) of the male with more nerves cut than female circumcision. It does lead men to want oral and anal more, because vaginal sex is less satisfying after the cut of these parts. Cut men have more premature ejaculation issues as the scar is now the most sensitive part and they have lost control of orgasm timing. It leads to sexual dysfunction at a young age. The cut men in the world use most of the VIAGRA consumed.

Usually, prior to elective surgery prospective patients will consider carefully the pros and cons of the operation. Obviously your boyfriend is far older than when this procedure is done normally. It may be good to consider the reasons for having this done as an adult. It does improve the sanitation of the penis itself but circumcision is considered also generally to reduce sensitivity in that area of the body and intimate relations might not yield the degree of pleasure experienced compared with uncircumcised state. Indeed, it is thought that one of the medical purposes for the instituting circumcision among infant boys in the days of the Old Testament was to reduce the libido at puberty by reducing the sensitivity and the obsessive seeking for gratification of that drive so that, when these boys were presented for marriage, they would receive it with more joy because they were in obedience to the Law of Chastity which is, basically, abstinence before marriage and perfect fidelity ever after. The most important thing to consider here is why does he want this? Was it recommended by a competent physician? Surgeries and especially elective ones do not always turn out a 100% success rate. That’s why the reasons for having it done are as important as the pros and cons. Realize there is a definite risk of infection, or it may not heal properly so that intimate relations are painful ever after. I would sooner have my tubes tied as a man before I’d get circumcised as an adult. I would really recommend considering this move carefully.

"Adults who undergo circumcision report less-satisfying sex, reduced sensitivity and erectile function, difficulty with intromission and increased premature ejaculation."

----------------from Nature Clinical Practice Urology 20 January 2009

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that an undamaged penis feels and functions better than a damaged one.

Circumcision is a fraud and a hoax.

A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.

i was circumcised as a baby and i still regret it at 26 years old and have been stretching my skin to grow it back. i advise you don't get it unless he is a minute man and wants to last like an hour.however long he lasts now quadruple it.
