I'm autistic but how many sorts are there and why and what sort am i?

I think weird. like i think of weird things. like em,... im watching a drama, then there these extras behind right? um... i woud think of how they felt about that situation and what would happen if... and it goes on but that just might be my ADHD. i don't like loud places, don't like bright places. always in my own world, make tiny videos in my head talk to myself alot. likes to be alone. impulsive, a lot of times say things that are mean but i don't mean it in that way but don't know how to express myself. and i taste colours! yep, like if i eat a artificial flavoured pink strawberry wafer biscuit, and you didn't tell me it was a artificial flavoured pink strawberry biscuit, i would say that it tastes pink. people ask me how do you taste a colour. i dunno really.... it just does. like i can taste colours? dunno how to explain it really. i smell colours tooo! like purple perfume, and things like that. and i imagine lots of different stories. and i have a very hard time keeping up a conversation, donno how to react to different situations, like if someone gives me a gift i had to train myself to smile but i don't know how to say thank you, when i do, feels weird, dunno how to fully explain but it does and like to obsessively feel things and textures, sub on a rough surface or try to even out a wine glass in my head. so i appreciate it.

So you are autistic? When you were diagnosed your doctor shoiuld have explained it to you. It is a spectrum. Everyone is different but to be autistic you have to have a diagnosis and that doctor that diagnosed you would have explained it.

Have you actually been given a diagnosis of autism? Every autistic trait appears to a certain degree in non-autistic populations, and people with other conditions (you mention ADHD) can show traits that appear similarto autistic traits but are actually caused either by the pre-existing condition or complications (i.e. ADHD can affect communication skills).

If you have had a diagnosis of autism, then in terms of sorts currently about four types, although you'll mostly hear of Aspergers and Autism. However, please be aware that in the new version of the DSM they are very likely going to change this to be one disorder, with a scale (or sub-scales) of severity - so it will all be under one term.

In terms of "sorts" or autism, there are as many as there are people on the autistic spectrum. It is a condition that has a lot of individual variation.

As for the tasting colours/smelling colours, although there is a condition linked to this (synesthesia) this is firstly not an autistic trait, and secondly the conditions to be diagnosed synesthetic are very clear, as everyone will do link senses cross modally (i.e. taste-colour, sound-taste etc) naturally through association and learning.
