Society expect you to color some grey/white hair growing on.... color or not color, that is the question!?

Today I asked my hairdresser: Why we, women, are always panicking when some grey hair began appearing, why we have to rush to our hairdresser to color it?

Her answer left me thinking. She just said: Because that's what you are expected to do so as a woman.

First time in my 50 years that I realized that there are many things we are expected to do, and more if we are women.

Use makeup, have a stylish haircut, if you need it you must shave your legs, be careful when using the shade of color for your hair: it could not suit you, wear stilettos, fashion cloths and so on.

What is wrong with grey/white hair in women heads? why we have to live according to what others expect us to do? why we are labeled as someone that don't take care of ourselves if we don't color our hair and just let that silver/white hair grow as part of our maturity?

I am not talking about appearing everywhere with dirty clothes or a hair that looks as if a tornado has gone through. I am talking about the "expectations" a society has about women. If you don't comply with them are you going to finish as an outcast?

Will love to know your thoughts (male and female) about this.

Cheers!

I have been waiting a long time for these grey hairs to appear, I really doubt I will hide them with fake coloring. Why would anyone want to? What and miss being a blonde again? I earned everyone of them and I too, feel they are a badge of honor.

Also, in my family, we turn the loveliest shade of silver when it happens, Just gorgeous. I can't wait. And, my sister did it YEARS ago and has been lording over me ever since!

My feet are too precious to stuff into high heels unless I am going someplace reeeeeel fancy. I have nice low heels for usual dress. If someone judges me by my heel heighth or my fashiion sense, they are the shallow ones I do not want to know. It took me 50 years of hard work and thought to be the person I am, that is enough for anyone.

I don't wear red hats, they clash with my aura.

Those grey hairs and wrinkles are campaign ribbons from life. I've earned each and every one of them. I'm proud of mine. Color? never!
