Why is my new laptop flashing green checkers and pink checkers across the screen?

My laptop has windows 7. It flashes with a green checker pattern behind the cursor sometimes and also pink checkers across the whole screen. It also shuts down after the pink checkers sometimes. Its only a week old and the only thing I have downloaded is i tunes store. No files, or other programs. This started before the i tunes anyway? Any ideas on why?

    1. It is a hardware error, probably with your video card, which it could be damaged or malfunctioning, or it's not plugged in tight and has fallen loose inside your laptop.

    2. It could be a virus from a website, although unlikely.

You can try restoring your computer to a restore point if you have one, or repair/reinstall Windows 7 with the OS Disc that should come with the laptop.

If restoring/repairing does not work, or you don't want to, your best bet is to either:

    1. Take to a computer repair store.

    2. Contact your computer's manufacturer for support and repair

It sounds like the graphics chip has malfunctioned. Since the laptop is so new I can presume their was a fault that occurred during manufacturing.

Take it back exactly to where you got it with all the accessories and a receipt and request a replacement.

Either you are really good at getting a virus, or there is a hardware problem. Most likely their is a hardware problem. Since it's a new laptop, contact the company and send it in for repairs since it's still under warranty.
