I am strongly against any type of gun control with exceptions for felons and the mentally unstable. As a matter of fact, I believe that our high schools should, by law, be required to teach a year long class in gun safety, marksmanship, gun care and everything else that comes along with owning and using a firearm safely. Keep in mind that this training includes psychological testing to make sure that a person is mentally stable. When that class is completed and upon the student turning 18 or 21, they should be granted a license to own and carry firearms. This would only ever be revoked in the instance that someone commits a felony or that someone is legally declared mentally unstable. If a person wanted to purchase a firearm in the future, all they would have to do is present this license. Now, I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that everyone be forced to carry a firearm, but I believe it would do wonders towards dispelling the unnatural fear people in our country have towards firearms. These rights were given to us by God and we have informed the government that they are not allowed to infringe on these rights. Government exists to protect our rights. It does not decide what they are.
