What is President Obama's greatest accomplishment?

He has been president for more than a year with Democrat-controlled House and Senate. What has he changed that most impressed you? If you can answer without saying "Bush," I might just give you ten points.

(Conservatives, you can refrain since I'm completely in agreement with any argument you could give me. I just want to know what Obama's supporters consider to be his greatest accomplishment to date. No conservative is getting a best answer.)

Update:

Alright, fine, not ANYTHING they could say, but I don't want to hear conservative talking points. I'm trying to hear what Obama supporters have to say. Impress me.

I liked his credit card reform. The credit card companies are the pirates of today. But the Lilly Ledbetter Act was also pretty good.

But I think President Obamas greatest accomplishment was helping to improve the US reputation with the rest of the world.

Not caving into pressure from leftists, who wanted to use the financial crisis to nationalize the banking system, or conservatives, who wanted to let the suckers fail. Obama walked a very difficult middle ground, providing loans to bolster capital as needed to avert a global meltdown, but getting the money back from nearly all the major banks. This was really an excellent performance.

    Other accomplishments of note

    - Preventing the current recession from becoming a full-fledged depression with judicious use of bailout and stimulus funds provided by Congress (I don't view this as his greatest accomplishment because Bernanke deserves more credit than Obama for averting a global depression)

    - Forcing GM and Chrysler through bankruptcy when the conventional wisdom was that both firms would fail if that happened. Both survived quite nicely, saving jobs and a key manufacturing asset of the nation, but stock and bond holders in both companies were not given a pass.

    - Using the bully pulpit to shame CEO's into more responsible compensation. This is a work in progress, but a very good start.

    - Completely changing the view that our allies around the world have of our country and its foreign policy. They no longer privately root against the U.S. A lot of this is based on hope, but so far, so good.

    - I am hopeful that his reach-out to Republicans will bear fruit. We have to stop the partisan bickering in Washington, where stopping the other guy is the most important goal. That kind of attitude is just crap, no matter which side does it.

I could go on, but that's enough, since you asked for just one.

He truly has finished not something tremendous. All he has finished is improve taxes by utilising passes the well being care bill, and he is going to eliminate the Bush tax-cuts to the middle type. yet in case you needed a fashionable liberal president then he has many accomplishments. i do not respect any of his characteristics, yet I DO comprehend HIM AS PRESIDENT. i'd under no circumstances favor to be like President Obama because i'm not a fashionable or a some distance-left liberal, i'm a social and economic conservative Republican. yet i do pray for him and his family individuals and that i desire he would comprehend that his guidelines will fail in this u . s ..

Umm, if I'm not mistaken, he has at least 3 more years of this term. You're talking about the man as if he's dead. It takes me out how people weren't worried about what "accomplishments" Bush made in his first year in office. I don't remember anything great that he did. But they are so concerned about what Obama's accomplishments are in one year. And your post is very bias from beginning to end. You really shouldn't be so obvious.

Getting elected. Pulling the wool over that many people's eyes was quite a feat. I mean, I can understand the stupid falling for his propaganda, but he even had some Republicans, singing his praise. Granted they were progressive Republicans, but still.

    Starting the withdrawal from Iraq.

"(Conservatives, you can refrain since I'm completely in agreement with any argument you could give me."

What, are you kidding? How narrowminded to just agree with ANYTHING someone says just because you're both conservative?

    You people are nuts.

He has exposed the true face of capitalism. Of course he will never be accepted by the neocons for this, but he has shown the country that we can join the civilized world by providing health care to its citizens, and social and economic justice to its workers.

Has he accomplished these goals, not yet. Has he exposed the citizens to this new kind of thinking? Absolutely!!! Amid the old capitalist model he has erected a new model of hope. Soon more will "get it". He WILL win another term because by then, you neocons will be exposed for what you are!!!!
