I personally would not take a 2 month old to a regular movie - depending on where you sit the noise could be too much for his ears as well as he could be disturbing to other movie goers.

I would check to see if your theater does a special "Take your Baby to the Movies" showing . . . we have a local theater that plays movies on Fridays that are designed to let parents see the latest movies and feel fine bringing a child under the age of 1. The volume is lowered, some lighting is left on and you go knowing there are babies there so no one complains.

As a cinema goer I wouldn't thank you to bring a small child into the cinema - if he started crying and drowned out the soundtrack then you will have spoilt the film for everyone.

The next point is for you as a parent - if the child needs attention, are you going to leave the auditorium to look after it? If so - and that would be best for everyone else in the film - you are waisting your money by missing parts of the film.

Having a child is a compromise - do you look after the child or carry on with your life as before, you generally can't do both and you might be better waiting for the DVD then you can pause the film to attend to the child's needs as and when they need attention

NO!!! The noise is even too loud for your ears..... Forget the movie and tend to your newborn (a child is NOT considered a toddler until they can walk). You can always get the movie through Netflix and watch it when your son is sleeping in another room.

No movie is worth the risk of losing your hearing, or your newborn's, over.

Not trying to sound rude, but out of common sense you have to realize that his ear drums are much tinier than yours so those loud noises can cause a lot of damage to his ears. If you don't agree then maybe ask your pediatrician.

I know it sucks not being able to do things you used to do while you were pregnant and before, but if you really want to go to a movie that bad, try to find someone you really trust to watch your baby and give them a detailed list of what to do.

Why would you want to? Are you expecting it to enjoy the film or sleep through it? Neither of which is likely....Im sure the other people in the cinema would love it when the screaming child began screaming.

I've read in several parenting magazines that children up to ages 3 are to young to go to the movies because of the noise being too loud and it has ruptured some children's eardrums.

I'm not sure where you live but I live in montreal and we have mommy and baby movies where the sound is reduced quite a bit and it's nice because they have diapers and changing tables for you there.

I actually just took my 5 week old son with me when I saw Avatar. ( Great movie by the way. )

He wasn't bothered once, and slept through most of it. Didn't even cry when all the loud music started.
