Matty Lloyd just hung up the boots?

Any comments?

Personally, its sad that hes gone because he was a champion of the Essendon footy club. Leading goal kicker on multiple occasions, captain, B&F winner, the mans done it all with the Dons. The gap he will leave will force some of the younger blokes to step up to the plate. Gumbleton and Neagle need a big pre season if they are going to fill half the void Lloyd will leave, but it will be good for them and Essendon in the long run.

Update:

Why did i put a "?" after "Matty Lloyd just hung up the boots"? Oh well, you guys know what i mean.

Update 2:

Ahh, is that what happens West Coast.

Matthew is a champion, one of the Dons' finest and will be greatly missed, especially by a still-learning coach and young team.

All the best for the future Matthew, and hopefully he'll still have a valuable role to play in footy, whether at Windy Hill (hopefully) or at another club.

James Hird, indisputably, has been one in each of Essendons maximum opulent gamers interior the golf equipment background, yet is it honest to place the two into a similar catergory. Matthew Lloyd would desire to be decrease than severe stress being envisioned to stay as much as some human beings's expectancies of him being the subsequent James Hird. he's a shown champion in his very own top and would settle for the possibility and the time to grow to be his "very own" captain and define his place interior the team.

He is a gutless coward. He knew had he played on, in the Hawthorn match someone would have tried to polax him doing some facial structure damage in a cowardly act to return the favour he gave to Brad Sewell.

I think he is a bit of a dog but I can't deny that he had a terrific career and was one of the premier forwards over the years. I dont think anyone at the Bombers will come close to replicating his efforts

  • i reckon in his last match which you knocked out a player wasn't really what his career was like. he was a pretty good player and all but personally i didn't really like the bloke but winning a coleman and getting 100 is pretty good.

Oh put it to rest 'buddy' - Franklin will be remembered for being a one-trick pony and a toothless wonder.

I doubt I will ever see Duddy Wanklin kick 900 in his career.

What a player Lloyd has been one of the best of all time and the most goals in Essendon history.

Andy k - it's called hardening up and getting in at the ball, maybe you should tell the dawks that. Lloyd was going for the ball, yet you think buddy should have got off and buddy stuck out his arm and bumped Cuz DELIBIRATELY. You were sooking for buddy to get off and now you think lloyd is a dog for doing the same thing.

What is going to do now? Has he bought into a business? Has he anything lined up?

Let's face it. He was a good footballer but, by crikey, he was terrible during his stints with the media. You know, the Footy Show & such like. He always sat with his mouth open. I reckon he could go into business catching flies!

I hope he salted a nest egg away for his time after football, coz I can't see him lining up as a coach or in the media - as 99% of footballers now seem to do!

He should have played one more year.
