Essendon supporters, what do you think Essendon should do with Lovett?

Ive seen heaps of people on the Dons website suggesting that a straight swap for Shaun B would be the best option, and sure Burgoyne is a pretty good player when hes going. However, i think the Dons should be talking to the clubs that have high draft picks, not Port who are trying to over value a player who is walking out on them. At his best, Shaun is a great player, however at his worst he can go a whole game and not get a touch. Prismall worked really well this year, but he had surgery to fix the issue. Shaun just had a niggle that kept him out all year. In my opinion, we should be going for high draft picks, not inconsistent players trying to escape cultural problems. Lovett and a couple of other guys (Laycock etc) could tempt Melbourne to give up the number 2 pick, and given its the last real draft an early pick is way more important than an old player.

I personally reckon he is way past his best...on the occasional week he'll play a great game of footy but he is just not performing to the best of his ability week after week anymore. If i was in charge of the decision, i'd give him 1 more year and see how he goes...you never know..other players have shown all the signs of an upcoming retirement and have proved they still have what it takes the following season. On the other hand, he is getting older and injury may take over. If this was to happen, i would definately give him up the next season. Shaun Burgoyne would be a fair trade but as you mentioned, Port have nothing to lose and its a bit of a gamble. There are alot of options but i'd give him another year.

Burgoyne is a superstar in the making, when does he hardly ever not touch the ball. Anyway we wouldnt want Lovett anyway hes a good player but Port isnt looking for that type of player.

You talk about cultural problems what are you on about, you might want to sort out your issues hey

lovett is past his best. although he had a pretty good game when essondon belted us (carlton) this year one good performance does not make a whole year. its about time players where payed on performanced based income. then the game would get very interesting. high draft picks mate if there are any left with the 2 new sides comming into the comp.

I don't think Lovett will gain as much interest from other clubs as he is hoping. I also don't think he is in a very strong position to try to dictate terms to the club. Knights wont go to any great pains to pander to his wishes.

I suggest the club let him go without any stress & get for him whatever they can for the least amount of hassle & time.

He thinks he's a bloody superstar, wake up lovett. YOU'RE NOT.

We should trade him and get Burgoyne, a player who is dedicated to his team and doesn't perform when he feels like it. Lovett only performs when the crowd is watching, a bloody show-pony.

Send him off else where The rest of your bit is correct and we should get rid of Loyd he is well past it the same as Scotty Lucas. Footy is about winning not about being fond of yesterdays players who are past it ~~
