What is the best wood to use for an Iguana cage?

Well I have the plans and a person to build it, I just need to know what kind of wood is safe, sturdy, and cheap.

I heard in other answers that there were some types of wood that are harmful to Iguanas, so if anyone knows what I should and shouldn't use then thanks!

BTW: I'm most likely going to buy everything from Home Depo.

I would not use wood chips at all, they can easily swallow them when they are eating, and plus it's hard to spot insects in the cage, with the wood chips, maybe soft hay or something, it's in the pet store. Not exactly sure if that's the name of it but it's soft and looks white. I found it easier to keep the tank clean with it instead of the wood chips.

if your going to Home Depot then your restricted to pine the other wood they carry is not safe for your pet however you can harden pine by heating it (without burning it) that will encourage your pet not to chew on it the process removes the leftover sap and that is what smells good to your pet-I recommend that you consider oak instead of pine though i built enclosures for different zoo's so this is the highest recommendation you can receive-(retired now)-good luck on your endeavors
