Actual hunting question: February hunting to-do's?

A wise hunter once asked "where are the hunting questions?" You asked... so I ask...

February is coming up quick, one month closer to the next season. What things do y'all plan to do in the near future to get ready for hunting this fall?

I plan to get a new dozen arrows, restring my bow, and start tuning it up again. What about you? Working up new loads? Scouting? Shed hunting? Planting prep? Inquiring hunters want to know!

We still have another 2 weeks of bow season in Ohio. Squirrel is through the end of the month too. Rabbit is in through the end of Feb. After then, reload the 500 once fired AA hulls I picked up at gun shows to be ready to hit some rounds of Sporting Clays in the Spring. When the weather breaks it'll be time to take out a groundhog here and there with the 17HMR.

After that, camping every weekend, riding the Harley or DRZ400S, and waiting for bow to come back in.

    Gotta love it!

Well actually winter is my busy season as I am trying to put as much fur in the shed as possible before the auction in March. I hound hunt and trap. However I continue to feed the deer and elk as it is legal here in Oregon and maintain my travel corridors and 2x4 constructed tree stands. I have got some beautiful photos on my trail cams that hang year round and shed hunting will be productive soon. In addition I am re glassing my wooden drift boat in anticipation of some good fish this year.

  • Keep the rifles sighted in. Keep shooting skills sharp. Hunt wabbits, Coyotes, and Pigs (Feral Pig). Probably gonna plant some food plots shortly. Scout some areas out. GET a new bow (doggone kids messing with the string and broke it all to hell), get new broadheads.

If you remember the post I asked about cures for buck fever, I'm pretty sure that i'll pay about $50 to paint your fence!

Well over the entire winter i have been practicing my turkey calls for the spring turkey season. And i will be shooting for fun and to sight them in. I will be practicing with my new thompson center omega. I will trap shoot. And i will be finishing up on my squirrel hunting. I will also be buying new calls and hopefully some new guns thats always fun.

    Good Question

save up my money and buy 2000 or so bullets for my guns, plan on building a deer stand, do my share of target shooting, scout our property in Oklahoma (that i've never been to), and die in this texas heat
