I did an internship with SCA in 2007 but not with the High School Conservation Crew. I had a great time. Most sites vary in terms of housing but I was lucky. I shared a 3 bedroom/1.5 bathroom house with one other person. I was even able to take my cat. Of course, that had been dependent on the person I was sharing the house with. She liked cats and was ok with it.

I did restoration work at Cowpens National Battlefield in Gaffney, SC. I enjoyed my time at Cowpens. The rangers were wonderful and I still keep in touch with them. I especially enjoyed seeing the wildlife. The wild turkeys especially enjoyed sneaking up on while I was doing work on the nature trail. Although it is only 2 miles in length, the nature trail is absolutely beautiful. There were at least 2 different populations of wild turkeys there. I also enjoyed the plethora of eastern cottontail rabbits. My cat enjoyed the screened in back porch in the afternoons. This was because we were visited by two eastern cottontails that visited us and ate the grass. We saw them everyday unless it rained. I saw signs of a skunk, coyotes, and white-tailed deer. On many occasions I would see a white-tailed deer on the nature trail. Actually, they would be running around in the woods. The battlefield itself was absolutely gorgeous and I learned a lot about the Revolutionary War. The battle at Cowpens took less than one hr. and turned the war around - for the Americans benefit. My primary responsibility was to return a portion of the battlefield to the way it looked during the time of the war, water newly planted trees, and work out on the nature trail. It was especially hot that summer. The heat index was over 100 a few times.

You don't actually get paid. You get a weekly stipend that is supposed to go toward buying food. So, you may want to see if your parents can help you out there. Unless you love pb&j and ramen noodles. Of course, a lot depends on if you are in the backcountry (backpacking) or in the upcountry (in a house).

If you are able and willing to go anywhere in the country then go for it. This is a great way to figure out what you may want to do when you go to college. Have a camera, sunscreen, plenty of deoderant, and a hat. I would definitely recommend participating in SCA. I would love to do it again.

I laud you decision of careers! you have become a conservative! (human being who conserves.) shop in thoughts the ameliorations between preserving and conserving. preserving includes to blame use, no longer waste of our surroundings and organic elements, conserving prevents replace. conserving finally ends up in stagnation, decay, woodland fires, and so on. some issues should be preserved. placed them in museums. the ambience needs to be conserved. That calls for administration and artwork. a reliable Conservative advantages all and various. those who WASTE at the prompt are not conservatives.
