So what happens if you eat something moldy?

I made some muffins two days ago and left them in a ziplock bag on my kitchen counter. Today I went to eat one and could taste that it wasn't ok anymore. I didn't eat it, of course... (ewww...). But I became sorta curious - what happens if one eats a moldy piece of bread?

I know bad meat or veggies can mess up one's digestion and even send a person to the hospital. But moldy bread? I can't imagine what else, besides horrible taste, would come of eating it...

(sorry for a gross question, for those with weaker nerves)

Nothing unless you eat a large amount or you are highly allergic. Then if you experience difficultly in breathing. dizziness, nausea, or naything odd like that get to the hospital. Most of the time nothing will happen.

it probably won t effect you unless you suffer from elergies from mould

then again.....foods like ...blue vain an other chesses, mushrooms, sweet botrytis wine and a lot of other mold laden foods seem to be sold on a premium without any fuss

Would think most people have eyes and could see that it did not look right and would have the sense to toss it out. It would also depend on how much one would eat of it to what it could do. Most people have taste buds and would know right off that it was not right but of course we do have some dumb people sorry to say.

    Blue cheese is fine.

And penicillin is made from mold.

Other than grossing yourself out, I think you'll live!
