Was Brad Haddins 169 in Adelaide enough to cement his test spot?

He has been under a bit of pressure recently, but did his 169 in Adelaide silence the critics and cement him his spot in the Australian Test team.

bloody oath, even if he didn't get a century who cares mate, the selectors have to realise that their cricketers not not cattle, see everyone thinks that you don't go good with the bat get rid of them, well do here them saying that about matty hayden, brett lee,not that long ago they up stuart Clark's backside, now he's taking wickets and showing everyone the way to go,there not worried bout he's performance that's because the selectors gave him a few matches to rid of the cobwebs, well they have to do the same for everyone else that puts on the baggy green, don't shift them out cause there not performing that's why there aren't any one coming threw cause their packing it if they stuff up,ps selectors show some faith just like you showed mcgrath and warne!don't see getting rid of them when thy first wore the baggy green!

And if you ask me it has been unwanted pressure on him too.Brad Haddin cemented his spot in the team the day he was presented with his Baggy Green. This 169 he scored yesterday should shut all these critics up,if it doesn't too bad.Haddin is here to stay.

"Cement" is a big word mate. While it was a sensational innings that would keep his place safe for the few upcomiing tornaments, if he starts failing with the bat again, then the axe would be hanging over him in notime. Lets be rational here, its his first good innings at the international level & he should be a lot more consistent if not always scoring these massive 150+ scores to reatin his place. Dont get me wrong, I am behind this guy but atleast a 70 or 80 every now & then is warranted.

Yes it should. At least it should keep the critics off his back. New wicketkeepers traditionally have a hard time in Australia. I remember when Rod Marsh started. He hard a bad first test and every man and his dog was calling for his scalp. Now that would have been a big mistake. And even Gilly had his critics throughout his career. Great players perform when the team needs them. Haddin performed when Australia needed him. 'Nuff said.

i think he was probably going to remain in the side anyway unless he played really bad, previous to he's century he was performing solid but nothing outstanding.

So yeah theat 169 shut all his critics up and cemented his spot in the in the team for the next few years IMO

Haddin's 169 should not make any difference he is a wicket keeper not a batsman. If he can take catches and stump batsmen he should stay in the side.

His place was already cemented as he is Australia's best wicketkeeper-batsmen.

I fail to understand why people were calling for him to get dropped, I hope they are all very embarrassed right now.

    Haddin is a legend!

169 run would cement anyone's spot in any test side unless your name is Jason Gillespie and scored it playing against Bangladesh.

    Definitely.
