How can I prove the breed of a stray?

Question

I adopted a stray from the local humane society.  They had her breed down as pit bull.  Searching online, I'd say she looks like a Boxador (Boxer Lab mix).  I might be moving in the near future and most rentals are against "violent breeds" (what a joke).  What am I legally obligated to say?  There is no way to prove she is a pitbull except based on the shelter's guess.

There is now a DNA test that you can have done.  Talk to your vet about it.  Prices vary.

But I agree that you should just say mutt.  No one can prove different just by looks.

You could have the dog DNA tested to know exactly, but I don't think it's really worth it. A pit bull isn't a real breed, it's an umbrella term that covers a lot of different breeds, sometimes even boxers. Just say that you think she's a boxer/lab (but please don't call her a Boxador- that just sounds stupid.)

You can guess as easily as the Humane soc.  so just put down boxer or boxer mix or something like that.   or just put down MUTT which is what most mixed breed dogs are!

DNA test at your vet.She doesn't even look like a pitbull to me.If there's any in there,it isn't much.I can see boxer,though.
