black white and silver themed party. decoration ideas please?
hey guys =)
im organising an 18th for a friend and it's going to be themed white and silver...but dress code also includes black.
ive had the ideas of those white and silver candles, glitter on the floor, white sheet with silver sheer on top to drape the walls (this is outdoor btw), white table cloths, a few fairy lights. theres also two of those fire things with chairs surrounding them.
food ideas include tzatziki dip, sakatas, pina coladas, sprite, diet coke (cans are silver), double blacks (cans are silver lol). and the cake is white cupcakes with silver beads stacked up in a pyramid kinda thing.
any other ideas please? or anything i've missed?
no balloons or streamers please!
thanks!

I'd incorporate black with the white and silver. Three colour colour palettes are much nicer than palettes that use only two colours. Black will also emphasise the other two colours and silver can be a little hard to see when used with white.
Fairy lights are always good. If you have bushes you should consider getting Netted Fairy Lights. They're strung in a net pattern and make it a lot easier to put the out and pack up at the end. They also look very pretty in bushes and trees.
Be aware white table cloths look good but they will end up getting stained, especially seeing as you have alcohol at the party.
Be careful with the braziers (the fire things) and make sure they cannot be knocked over. Put white bricks or pavers around then to try to prevent this but just be aware the will end up being knocked over (it's happened at parties I've been to where, at the end of the night when everyone is drunk, the thing gets knocked over about 5 or 6 times.) Be prepared to put out a fire.
Another good lighting idea that you could incorporate into your colour theme are paper lanterns. They look really nice, especially with decent bud lights in then, and can light up an outdoor area nicely.
Don't print out banners. They look tacky unless you're a designer, are using Photoshop and get them printed at a printers.
The sheet is a good idea. You could dress it up buy getting black and silver material, cutting your friend's name out of the silver/black material and pinning it to the big sheet to dress it up. You can also buy black and silver permanent markers and, if you're using an old sheet for this, encourage the people who come to the party to write/draw birthday wishes and messages on the sheet. You can then give this to your friend as a momento.
All in all, sounds like your friend will have a good party. Just remember (speaking as a designer) to keep things simple and it will look great as well as being easy to put up and take down.
The thought of the food is making me hungry. Happy Birthday to your friend. I wish I had friends like you.

Go to a craft store like AC moore and get a bunch of small clear vases in different shapes, smooth white, clear and siler (if they have them) pebbles. Also pick up silver and white glitter in a couple of different textures, some of those clear/ silver rhinestones and silver and white ribbon. Tie a ribbon around each vase, pebbles and rhinestones in the bottom, fill with water and flowers of choice, sprinkle in the the glitter. Also, buy some white tulle and silver spray paint. Spray paint some of the tulle silver and leave some white. Drape it from ceilings and doorways intertwined with white lights if desired. I will warn that a party that is all silver and white will likely look rather bland- especially in photos. The whole effect may be very one dimensional. You may want to add subtle color with purple or red flowers.

Silver mylar balloons with black and white curling ribbon. They'll reflect the candle light. Floating candles sprinkled with glitter in glass bowls are pretty. Black/silver ribbon bows on the backs of the chairs. Sparkling grape juice in champagne flutes. Black and silver glitter sprinkled on the white table cloths. Depends on how fancy you want to get. Snacky food only? Try hors dourves found in the freezer section of the grocery store :)

Silver beads to drape and/or wear.Black plastic top-hats. Black maribou feathers, Black drapes with a silver tie on the back for the chairs. Silver color pillar candles, and/or silver and white candles floating in a black bowl. Have a healthy and happy leap year!

My two cents are do not put glitter on the floor this could be a liability issue if someone slips especially after a couple of drinks (or not)...don't take the chance.
You should get together some of those white christmas lights...(not the icicle type..) but the strings of white lights are very pretty.

mirrors give good effect at parties and best of all they are silver!! add candles white or even black on top of the mirrors for a nice glimmer effect
tinsel the stuff you use on christmas trees? silver also! you could stack that into a clear vase and add some white flowers into it

Why not make a mini newspaper. Use facts about your life (childhood and adult) use a few pictures (always good for a laugh) only need to make a small folded type paper (A4 folded maybe) print one at home and then take the rest to a stationers to run off (much cheaper than using your own ink). Whatever you decide, have a great 50th!

What about a silver streamer bomb when they cut the cake. You can get them party shops. They are in a tube and explode little streamers over the crowd when you release them.

sounds cool...an idea for the candles: use adhesive spray and roll them in glitter. makes them really pretty when theyre lit and its fun to do! just be careful movin them around cause it rubs off easily. have fun!
