Do you find New Yorkers to be friendly?
I live in New York City and am still blown away that people think New Yorkers are unfriendly and rude. I am curious to hear what people think? Thanks

It's not that New Yorkers are rude, but it has become standard etiquette to not look people in the eye when you walk past them on the street and not talk to them on the subway or bus. Many people mistake that for rude, when really they're just minding their own business.

New Yorkers have an undeserved bad reputation. Just because they speak their mind it doesn't make them unfriendly. I LOVE going to NYC and don't get there as much as I like to. If I had the money and the means I would move to NYC. Sigh.

I grew up in Chicago.....the friendliest town in America.....but when
I went to New York, it was again unbelieveable. My visit two or three times told me how friendly it is. And now I live in a University town
for the last 35 years in western America. Most of my friends and
loving caring people are from New York, Chicago, New Jersey,
well, very big cities.
You learn in big cities to watch your back, however, you learn
who your friends can be very quickly too.

I went to NYC one time, a few years ago, I ws blown away by the friendliness and hospitality. I am from the South but I felt very comfortable. Hope to go back one day soon.

We tend to dash around rather quickly, but once we've slowed down a bit, we are always happy to chat with people.
