2 Answers1 week agoDid you ever cut a student a break in elementary school?
Hi,
Before covid and the shutdown that followed, I was teaching 3d grade. A young boy was misbehaving and I sent him to timeout. He proceeded to turned around and swear at me. As I was taking him to the office he was crying and said he didn't want his dad called because he will get hit with a belt. So I made a deal with him. I told him he had to apologize to me, promise me he will never do this again and this time I will cut him a break. I also made it crystal clear to him that if I ever heard him talk like that again, not only would I call his father but I will also tell him about this incident and actually tell him to spank you with the belt nice and hard.
So I cut him a break that one time.
Have any other teacher cut a student a break?

2 Answers2 weeks agowould you agree to teach in the classroom if you knew other teachers would be teaching from home and making the same or more $$ than you?
I'm a part timer, I was given the last remaining options for classes to teach over the summer. All the remote classes were taken so I am left with in classroom classes and I'd honestly rather quit than be that one exception/guinea pig.

3 Answers2 weeks agomaitaining the semantic in rewriting?
The goal is to rearange the sentence: "I was so surprised to see her that I was at a loss for words" in order to make the expression: "at a loss for words" seems more poetic.
options are:
1 . for word, I was suprised to see her, that I was at loss
2. Went at loss, of being so suprised to see her, for words
seems like a nice way to make a reader rewrite sentence in his mind and try to make some sense, right?

1 Answer2 weeks agoI’m not sure how zoom works?
Today is my first tutoring math through zoom for my college. They posted my zoom meeting ID on their website for students to click on to be tutored. Do I have to go to zoom.us and host a meeting and wait for students to join. Or should I not have to do that and just wait for emails to come through to then accept them? Thanks in advance.
