  • I feel embarrassed or weird singing in front of others?

I'm not a musician or anything close, but I do like to play acoustic guitar something mostly by myself. I've played for a friend of mine before but really no one else.  I'm planning on taking a small trip in june up to this lake, with a 3 friends. My one friend suggested I bring my guitar with me.  2 of the friends have never heard me play before and I feel a bit odd about it.

I'm not what you would call great but I'm not awful, in terms of playing, singing Id say mediocre.  How do I overcome this fear?

  • What are some good quality leather sandals from Men that are NOT Birkenstocks? ?

I'm looking for a good quality pair of men's sandals, that are not Birkenstocks.  At the same, not cheap stuff either, that doesn't fit correctly or has Velcro that loses it's stick after awhile.

  • Should I take a new job that has a long commute or stay at current job that's close to home?

So, I've been at my current job for a number of years. While I never had a super long commute, I bought a home less then 10 minutes away some years ago just be close, to avoid traffic. Things were going ok but I've been really unhappy at work the last couple years.   The company I work for merged with another, things have gone downhill and the culture has really gotten poised, from the new higher ups running the place now.

I had to take a 4 week stress leave recently. I recently found a job listing on Indeed.com and it sounds like what I want. In terms of work hours and its similar to what I have now.  However, it's a 40 minute drive one way(so 80 min both).  I'm torn on what to do.

I really don't want a commute, if I would take it then eventually I'd likely have to move house. I really like where I live so that would be hard.

It would be a bit of a pay cut too, but maybe it would be less stress and BS. I really don't see things improving at my place of work now but a part of me feels like taking on a long drive everyday would be a big mistake.

    Anyone else in this situation?

  • Have you ever walked out on a job that you had for a long time?

I'm not talking about some job you had for 3 days or even 2 months. I mean a place you have worked for years.   Say just one day, just saying "screw it" .     What caused it to happen?

I work in a warehouse and have for a number of years. I just cant take it anymore, i've been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and have aspergers.   I feel stressed out and sick everyday.  Idiot co-workers and no support from management.  Constantly changing assignments on a whim with no warning.

My one boss is always in a nasty mood and its just a bad environment.  The company I worked for merged with another a couple years ago and its just gone to hell in a handbasket.  It seems unwise to leave but I am just so tired and miserable.  I've tried to make it work, I've felt this way for a good couple years now but just have not been able to have the courage to leave.

Not sure how long it would take to replace this job.  I'm at my wits end.

Does it look ok to wear Cowboy Boots to an office job?

I work in an office and our dress code is business casual. So for men: Khaki pants, dress slacks, dress or decent casual(i.e boat shoes) shoes, Polo shirt or button down shirt.  I don't live in Texas, I'm in the mid-west.  Would it look ok to wear a pair of plain black or tan cowboy boots?  I just want to try something different.

  • At what age did you start swearing/cussing/cursing  on a regular basis?

This was like when 10-11, when some occasional swear words first became part of my vocabulary. This was in front of my cousins or friends, not adults as of yet.

I remember saying " Damn" Asshole" " *****" mostly although I only swore sometimes. The first time I cursed around a cousin of mine was " son of a *****" when I lost at a Nintendo game.

The first time I dropped The F bomb was in front of a friend of mine. This was like after school waiting to be picked up by our parents. I had gotten a D on like a math test and we were comparing tests.  He didn't do well either and he told me he heard the whole class was going to have to retake the test. I was like " oh ****!"

My friend jumped a little and just kinda laughed, like shocked. The next day, he was like " I never heard you cuss before" and another classmate of mine oddly complemented me when he heard about it.

  • Does it look Tacky or Creepy To wear a Speedo in America?

In High School I swan competitively and was on diving team one year.  Myself and my team mates always wore a speedo, I liked it way better then swim trucks. A speedo does fill up with air and doesn't feel like it's dragging you down.

Outside of that, I've never had the courage to wear a speedo to the beach or public pool. I know in Europe, Australia, and in South America, its the norm from what I understand, although I've never been there.

I'm now 40 and have mostly gotten past the point of worrying what others think of me, for the most part. I'm about 5'11, 200lbs.  A little out of shape but by no means fat or Obese.   I'd like to wear a speedo but I am worried it's going to get me dirty looks or worse, at the beach or pool.   I just don't wanna be creepy or tacky.

  • What can I wear with Red Sperry boat shoes?

I really think they look cool but not sure how versatile they would be, I already own a tan pair. I don't want to look tacky or effeminate by wearing these.

  • Is Erie Pennsylvania a nice place to live?

I'm speaking of the city proper but also surrounding suburbs/towns.   What are good things about living there?  What's not so good?

What safe areas to live and what areas should I avoid?
